Highlights
  • San Nicola - The island of San Nicola, the “Montecassino of the Adriatic”, the only example of an abbey-fortress on an island, has been a crossroads of cultures and religions for millennia which have made it an extraordinary example of dialogue between various eras. You cannot get to the Tremiti and not visit the ancient village.

  • San Domino - San Domino is the largest of the archipelago of the Tremiti Islands and certainly the most beautiful for the landscape aspects, called by the friars “The Garden of Paradise”; It is covered by a characteristic pine forest of Aleppo pines, which can be easily visited by following the equipped paths, passing through the typical plants of the Mediterranean scrub such as myrtle, rosemary, phillyrea, mastic and juniper.
Cala Matano is a beautiful natural inlet which, descending overhanging the sea, leaves a small cove on the bottom, which can be accessed from above thanks to a path. Its name comes from the duchess of the same name. It is equipped with umbrellas and deck chairs.
Then there are Cala dello Spido, Cala degli Inglesi, Cala dei Benedettini, Cala Tamariello and Cala Tonda, beautiful to see because it forms a suggestive lake.
Cala delle Arene is the only sandy beach of a certain size in the Tremiti archipelago.

  • Arcipelago Tremiti - The tour of the Tremiti Islands lasting one hour and with a stop for a swim (weather and sea conditions permitting), will circumnavigate the 4 islands, San Domino, San Nicola, Cretaccio and Capraia, to discover the most suggestive.

Additional Information

Embark on a maritime adventure across the Adriatic Sea, commencing your journey from the Gargano harbors of Vieste, Peschici or Rodi Garganico, with the Tremiti Islands as your destination.

Upon arrival, you will alight to explore the quaint town center of San Nicola. A ‘Salizada’ pathway bridges the dock to the town, which features the prominent S. Maria a Mare Benedictine Abbey, telling the tale of the crucial role the Tremiti Islands played strategically over the ages. Alternatively, you could venture to the island of San Domino, a haven teeming with diverse flora and fauna. Lose yourself among charming bays and picturesque scenery. We’ll commence our exploration from Cala Matano, Cala degli Inglesi, Cala Tonda, and primarily, Cala delle Arene. The latter being a sandy bay exponentially larger than its counterparts.

Your package includes a one-hour boat ride around the islands that offers a breathtaking view of the shoreline of the main islands from the sea, with a pit-stop at one of the most scenic bays. Our team will be on standby to assist with any requests or information.

Advised - It was a nice experience, we left from the port of Peschici and from San Nicola we did the tour of the islands, which took us back to San Domino, there is a small beach there, we rented a sunbed and umbrella at a cost of 30 euros and in the in the afternoon we took the larger boat back to Peschici. Definitely not practical for very young children. I recommend doing the island tour first and then stopping on the beach. Unfortunately, there is little time to spend on the beach.

Ferry cancelled due to power failure - It would definitely have been great if the ferry hadn't had a power outage and the tour had to be cancelled.
