Highlights
  • Curonian Spit / Kursiu Nerija National Park - The Curonian Spit stretches from the Sambian Peninsula on the south to its northern tip next to a narrow strait, across which is the port city of Klaipėda on the mainland of Lithuania. The northern 52 km long stretch of the Curonian Spit peninsula belongs to Lithuania, while the rest is part of the Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia. The width of the spit varies from a minimum of 400 m in Russia (near the village of Lesnoy) to a maximum of 3,800 m in Lithuania (just north of Nida).
  • Pervalka - Pervalka Lighthouse (Lithuanian: Pervalkos švyturys) - a lighthouse located in Pervalka on the Curonian Spit, located in between the Curonian Lagoon (to the east) and the Baltic Sea (to the west); located in Lithuania.[2]

The lighthouse operates automatically - by flashing in a white glare. The lighthouse’s base is built on stone; with the lighthouse’s cylindrical shape made out of sheet metal[3] - with the current lighthouse built in 1900.[4]

Our second experience - surely not the last! - This was our second experience with Wet Weim and it was as brilliant as the first one. Janis - the guide and the person behind Wet Weim - is as always kind, genuinely interested and passionate, and caring. The views were breathtaking. Being a Lithuanian I have visited Kuršių Nerija many times before, but I saw the Dunes very differently and it was truly a unique sight. Canoeing itself was very pleasant. Janis ensured we travelled when the wind and waves were mild so that we could all comfortably paddle aroud.

Fantastic! Whole-heartedly recommend - We went on the Mighty Sands tour, and what a fantastic day we had. Neither of us had had any recent experience in canoeing, but all our concerns dissipated thanks to our fabulous guide Janis – as smart and patient and informed about this beautiful part of the world as anyone you could wish. Highlights included canoeing past a lighthouse, stopping at the foot of a dramatic wall of sand set against the blue sky, and paddling past beds of reeds where innumerable hidden birds called out to each other. Even more memorable was our delicious picnic… complete with fresh coffee and chocolates. Whole-heartedly recommended!

Amazing experience! - I absolutely loved this experience as from the booking till the moment of the drop off at the hotel the communication with Wet Weim went perfectly! The beauty of the Curonian Spit is something that one needs to experience and doing it through the water os an unique and special way of doing so, that i would really recommend to everyone. Although i never canoed in my life, with the guidance of our guide, i enjoyed every second of our tour. Be sure to also book the picknick so hou can enjoy s bit of luxury after your hard work!

An exceptional experience and unique perspective of Klaipeda - We booked this the day before we arrived in Klaipeda as part of a cruise. Janis was very clear and communicative over email which was very reassuring in the build up. He picked a group of us up from our ship and drove us to a remote and tranquil area to canoe (in phenomenal boats he had made himself) along the Curonian spit. Janis taught us how to paddle in a canoe compared to a kayak and got us out on the water. The surroundings were beautiful and we got to see lots of wildlife. Janis took great photos of all the boats and also used his drone to create some really impressive birds eye view photos. On the way back we stopped on the beach for a picnic he had prepared. It's a fair few hours on the water so be prepared for a bit of a workout. Janis drove us back to the cruise ship after. This is a brilliant opportunity to make your holiday or cruise stop extra special. Janis is a fantastic guide, incredibly helpful and well prepared. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing guide and incredible views - Janis was an amazing tour guide and the views were incredible. Janis was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to quickly teach us how to canoe. It was a little windy of a day, but the views of the lighthouse, dunes and shoreline were completely worth it. We would do this tour again in a heartbeat.
