Day 1: Cusco – Paucartambo – Cloud Forest – Pilcopata

Manu National Park - The journey begins at 5:30 a.m. with a hotel pickup in Cusco. The route takes us through the Andean valleys, where we explore the ancient pre-Inca tombs of Ninamarca, a site rich in history. Next, we reach the colonial village of Paucartambo, renowned for its historic houses and museums showcasing ceramics, costumes, and masks from the famous Virgin of Carmen festival. Here, a traditional breakfast is enjoyed. We proceed to the Acjanaco viewpoint, situated at 4,000 meters, offering breathtaking views of the cloud forest. Entering Manu National Park, we descend a path lined with lush vegetation, waterfalls, birds, and monkeys. In San Pedro, we have an outdoor lunch and take a walk to observe the cock-of-the-rock. The day concludes at Bambu Lodge, where dinner and relaxation await.

Day 2: Bambu Lodge – Watchtower – Lake Machuwasi

Manu National Park - Following an early breakfast at the lodge, we visit a coca plantation to learn about its significance and cultural value. We then explore a rescue center, providing an up-close experience with animals like jungle condors, toucans, and monkeys. The journey continues to the village of Atalaya, where we embark on a tour of the Madre de Dios River, offering stunning scenery and a direct connection with the jungle. Upon reaching the lodge, we settle in and savor a delightful lunch. In the afternoon, we visit Lake Machuwasi, perfect for spotting alligators, capybaras, and birds such as the hoatzin. We enjoy a wooden raft ride and ascend to an observatory with magnificent views. After nightfall, we embark on an exhilarating hike to discover nocturnal wildlife. We return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Lodge – Collpa de Parrots – Cusco

Cusco - The day begins early with a visit to the parrot clay lick, a remarkable site where these birds gather to consume mineral-rich clay. The vibrant display of colors and sounds is unforgettable. After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, we embark on a river tour back to Watchtower. From there, we continue our journey in a private minivan to Cusco. The route once again traverses the cloud forest, with its lush landscapes and mystical mist. We pause in Ajanaco for lunch before resuming the return trip. Arrival in Cusco is anticipated around 5:00 p.m., leaving us with cherished memories of this jungle adventure.
