Highlights
  • The Sanctuary Of Truth - Standing on an outcrop just 3 kilometers from the center of Pattaya, the Sanctuary of Truth is a truly beautiful and visionary place.

Thanks to the vision of one Thai businessman. This magnificent temple is amazingly made entirely from wood, the Sanctuary of Truth has inspired the revival of traditional Thai building techniques. Every piece that has gone into constructing it is wood. That’s right – even the nails, connectors, everything is wooden. That’s incredible, right?

As you wander the grounds, taking in the experience, you will be impressed with the design and the tranquillity of the Sanctuary. There are four wings to the temple, which take in the inspiration of Thai, Khmer, Chinese and Indian spiritual art.

It is not just the beauty of the woodwork that is impressive about the Sanctuary of Truth, it’s the size. The building is 20 storeys high, and about as wide.

You will not only find inspiration and a sense of peace here – you will also find enjoyment in the activities that the Sanctuary of Truth has on offer for visitors. Highlights include Thai cultural dancing and you can even opt to see the temple from the water with a ride in a speedboat.

There will be no regrets from you or any of your fellow travellers if you choose to visit this beautiful place.

Exceptional - It's not a temple, but a huge building full of sculptures, everything is made of wood and has an impressive atmosphere. A must in Pattaya.

So glad to see it! - The sanctuary is a must-see wooden carving masterpiece. So many wonderful details that you do not know where to look first. I was excited! (And, you can read a lot of true ideas how to improve your life to make you and people around you better and happy.) I have chosen the first term of transfer in the morning which was perfect to avoid the huge tourist crowds comig later. The English-speaking driver picked me up at the hotel at exact time (no collection of other guests from other hotels, comfort clean car), gave me the ticket and let me on my own in the sanctuary areal for as long as I wished. At the entrance to the sanctuary tour (steep steps downhil!), there is an information plate about the times of guided tours in different languages, you have to wait for your language. I had to wait for English some 30 minutes. In that time you can visit a mini-ZOO, souvenir shop or cafeteria. In the sanctuary, helmets are obligatory. After the tour you can stay and take photos as long as you want, drink a coconut or order some meel. I used a free shuttle to get back to the parking place where the driver was waiting and put me back to the hotel. The whole trip took from 8:00 to 11:30. Well spent morning. Not cheep, but well invested money.

Spectacular falls short - I travel to Thailand every year and this is without a doubt the most special, incredible and spectacular temple I have ever visited!!! It is a work of art, carved in wood. It is an incredible experience to see all the details it has, you could spend the entire day discovering details in every place you look. The entrance fee today is 500 Bath (about €12 or €13) but it is worth every euro. The only thing I didn't like was the "attractions" that they have set up around, there are horseback riding, elephant riding...... PLEASE DO NOT CONTRIBUTE TO ANIMAL MISTREATMENT.

Astonishing! - Temple of truth- very well maintained. Our tour guide Tony took good care of us. We even had an opportunity on-site of temple to ride an elephant, take a photo and feed the elephant. All contributions go to this tranquil sanctuary. A must do for Pattaya.

Museum of Truth - Pattaya - Beautiful building on the ocean. Fascinating. Cons-pricey at about $14 a person, with crowds I saw they are making bank, stairs - flight to stairs to go down and back up, disabled access?, crowds - probably crowded all the time, was today. guides- good luck if you are with your language guide, difficult to hear guide speaking. At the North end of Pattaya.

Gorgeous!, - This is an outstanding temple with wood carvings, much better than most mosques, thongs or temples The tall standing wooden structure is eye catching as it looks like it is hanging off the sea shore We were there early to beat the crowd and the heat. The sea breeze certainly gives you a quick relief from the hot humid sensation. There are tours conducted within the premises offered in different languages. Unfortunately there are too many stories ,information and facts to tell which last over one hour which makes it hard to digest and follow. They could do a better job by printing the story out for reading and reference The guide spokes quite fast and we started with a crowd of 50 and ended up with ten at the end of the tour as most visitors either lost interest or they cannot catch up Within the wooden temple there are stories based on family values,Buddhism, philosophy, life and death which was quite interesting The noise of the crowd with the microphone of the guide seem to negate your hearing and comprehension There are other attractions including elephant riding, wood carving ,restaurant etc You need to plan ahead to make it worthwhile It did not get a score of 5 because of the speed how the tour was conducted as it is jammed packed with information,if you are a slow walker you will miss out!

very beautiful. - a very beautiful temple that is full of multiple intricate details. the craftsmanship. You could easily spend half a day at the temple taking in the details. Many other things to do on the site but the temple is the must visit.

Disgusting Terrible place - Disgusting place because feet from the exit right in front of you as you leave the sanctuary is a vision of Hell. In front of you was a small area with 7/8 beautiful elephants who were being abused Let me please explain 24 hours later I am still upset with the obscenity that I witnessed. I am traumatised. All their talk of love, understanding, karma, good and evil etc in the sanctuary and then feet from the exit right in front of you as you are leaving they allow this obscenity. This is 2024 not 1974.. No one harms the animals now. They are innocent creatures. You traumatised me.. I reported to the staff what I saw and they agreed with me. One staff member told me - I cannot look out ( the windows) and see the elephants. It upsets me. Another staff member told me - they use the bill hooks with pain to control them No way would I ‘ ride ‘ on the back of one of these creatures who has been beaten., tied up and abused into submission until their spirits are broken. I noticed 3 elephants doing the rounds with thick stupid tourists ‘ riding’ on them. Then I noticed the bill hooks in the hands of the guys controlling them. You’re right I lost it. In case you do not know these bill hooks cause extreme pain to the elephants when they are beaten with them. The elephants scream with the extreme pain. It’s how these evil people control them. I shouted at them with what they were doing and they laughed at me. Yes they did but not 10 minutes later when I marched into the elephant’ paddock ‘ . Where the elephants were congregated and took out my camera phone. I began to film them asking where the bull hooks were. Hey presto all the bill hooks had disappeared. Some keepers had disappeared completely. The few sat there were not laughing at me now surprise surprise. They knew I spoke the truth. They knew I was mad with anger. Silence is complicity. I cannot remain silent. A terrible terrible experience. A visit to Hell. Sure go if you want to be transferred like me. Your choice . For 1 million dollars I would not enter that place agai Richard Bannan 14 Studholme Street London SE15 1 DD United Kingdom
