• Basilica di Santa Maria della Steccata (Madonna della Steccata) - The refined Renaissance structure of Santa Maria della Steccata is Parma’s first church designed with a central plan. Inside, you’ll find one of Francesco Mazzola’s, also known as Parmigianino, masterpieces: the large arch above the main altar, frescoed between 1533 and 1539.
• Teatro Regio - Today, it is celebrated as a temple of opera and is among Italy’s most esteemed theaters. It features a neoclassical facade, still known as “Parma yellow,” and elegant interiors decorated with gilded stuccos.

• Baptistery of Parma - The Baptistery of San Giovanni Battista, commonly known as the Baptistery of Parma, is an octagonal structure clad in pink Verona marble, symbolizing eternity. It is considered one of the key transitional points between Romanesque and early Gothic architecture in Italy.

• Museo Diocesano - The concept of the museum dates back to the 1990s, initiated by the Diocese’s treasurer, Monsignor Franco Grisenti, who proposed an exhibition of paintings, sacred vestments, and silverware, along with a lapidary in the basement for statues from the Baptistery.

• Cattedrale di Parma - The Cathedral of Parma, or the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, is a Romanesque structure begun in 1106 and still regarded as a medieval Italian masterpiece. While the Romanesque design is well-preserved, much of the interior, including the central nave, dome, and transept, has been altered by later Renaissance modifications. Additionally, some side chapels have been frescoed in Gothic style in more recent times.
• Camera di San Paolo - The Chamber of San Paolo is part of the San Paolo museum and offers a tour that recreates the private apartment of Abbess Giovanna da Piacenza, a significant figure in Parma’s religious and cultural scene in the early 16th century.

In the Cella di Santa Caterina, you can find notable frescoes and decorations that reflect Renaissance art and the religious traditions of the era. The works in the cell depict scenes from the life of Saint Catherine and other religious themes.

• Palazzo della Pilotta - Initially designed to house the services of the Farnese court, one of the most powerful noble families from the 15th to the 18th centuries, Pilotta Palace was meant to integrate the system of ducal residences. It connected the Representative Palace with a more modest building that housed the Farnese court’s headquarters, which no longer exists today.

• Teatro Farnese - The Farnese Theater is recognized as the first modern theater in the Western world. Located on the first floor of Palazzo della Pilotta, it was constructed between 1617 and 1618 in the old “Sala d’Arme” of the court, designed by Ferrara architect Giovan Battista Aleotti, known as Argenta.

• Parco Ducale - The most renowned garden in Parma, with its 208,000 square meters of greenery, serves as a vital natural oasis for the city’s residents.

The Ducal Park is designed in a neoclassical style and is notable for its avenues and sections that intersect in a trapezoidal pattern. While strolling through the park, you can admire several historical monuments of Parma, such as the Palazzo Ducale del Giardino and the Trianon Fountain.
