Highlights
  • Omaha Beach - Omaha Beach was known to be the most difficult military objective when the invasion of Normandy was being planned. In order to be sure that the Allied forces took it the youngest and most foolhardy soldiers were assigned to it, most of them were American. You’ll walk on the same sands as them and learn about their acts of heroism and sacrifice.

  • Overlord Museum - Omaha Beach - Operation Overlord was the code name given to the Allied Invasion of northwest Europe. This museum has an unequaled collection of military equipment that was used to either defend or attack the coast of Normandy. Such as a full-sized authentic Higgins boat, with its front flap down, and impressive Sherman and Panzer tanks.

  • Batterie Allemande de Longues-Sure-Mer - This German Battery has a fully intact Command Bunker and 3 other bunkers that are still armed with huge 150 mm guns today. You’ll climb inside the bunkers with your guide and find out what happened on the morning of D-day from the Axis perspective. Learning about Rommel’s defenses known as the “Atlantic Wall”.

  • Domaine de l’Hostréière - For lunch, you will stop at a mom-and-pop style restaurant such as the l’Hostéière. On the coast, there are no fancy restaurants. There are only little places with fresh local foods such as salads, omelets, barbecued meats, and crepes. We do not include your lunch in our tour price. You can pick whatever you want from the menu. Plan on spending 10-20€.

  • Pointe du Hoc - The Pointe-du-Hoc was a strategic German defensive point that had huge guns pointed towards both Omaha and Utah Beaches. On D-day, it was a top priority to capture. Here you will walk around huge bomb craters to the edge of a 110ft tall, seaside cliff. Learn how Rudders Rangers climbed it with rocket-powered grappling hooks and their bayonets.

  • Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer - Here 9,388 white marble tombs stand in perfectly straight lines. You’ll walk among the Crosses and Stars of David with your guide and pay your respects to those who sacrificed everything. You’ll visit Medal of Honor winners and also the Niland brothers whose real-life story inspired the movie “Saving Private Ryan”.

  • Ferme de la Sapiniere - Before there was a war there were apple trees to tend in Normandy. The apple orchards in Normandy grow dozens of different varieties of apples and turn them into amazing apple juices, hard ciders, and strong liquor called Calvados. We’ll stop at one of the local orchards and you’ll get to taste some of Normandy’s famous Cider. We’ll pay for your tasting.

Long day but worth it. - Long day, but worth it. Train didn't work on the day/time that we wanted to go, so we booked Blue Fox. The guide was friendly, fun and well informed. After the commuting, we had about 6 hours in the Normandy area. I strongly recommend reading the D-Day book by Ambrose before going.

Very moving experience - It was such a moving experience to see the beaches and taps at the American cemetery. I was so touched by how kind people are and how well they care for our servicemen who died to liberate Normandy. Our guide was so knowledgeable and engaging. The museum was so well done and enjoyable. I learned a lot about that historical event.

This is a MUST DO day-trip! We are forever changed for going. - This is a small group tour, which I highly recommend over the bus tour groups primarily because you will LOTS of questions about what you hear and see. Having a tour guide with only 8 to 10 people makes it very easy to ask and learn everything you want. Here are the things we loved about this particular Normandy beach tour: 1) First and foremost, our guide ... Jonathan Bardavid! WOW! We did 12 events/tours during our Paris holiday with lots of amazing guides/hosts, but Jonathan was the best of them all! ASK FOR HIM! He is incredibly knowledgable about ww2 history and is gifted as an effective storyteller. He is also incredibly kind and one of the most humorous people I've met. He had us laughing out loud together on our return to Paris, which helped lift the mood of the seriousness of our day together in Normandy. Be sure to ask for his rules for driving around the Arc de Triomphe! 2) If you are like my mother (79 years old) and I (54 years old), we are not "war buffs" and don't like the thought of war. I suggested to her that we do this because I felt as American it was something we must see. She agreed. We are both forever changed from this tour. If you too are on the fence or think you don't want to see Normandy when in Paris, do it! 3) Seeing the remains of the German bunkers, the holes on the beach where allies bombed, the cliffs the Rangers scaled, the hedgerows the troops navigated through, does more than any movie could do to show what these men braved. Yes, you will see the actual aftermath conditions of the war on the beaches. 4) This particular tour stops at a cider farmhouse which is very informative as well as an amazing tasting experience. Best apple juice you've every tasted! 5) The museum stop is incredible! It's very well done. The machinery, uniforms (on mannequins) is presented with a Disney-like professionalism including lighting, sound, landscaping, and backdrops. 6) The lunch stop was amazing. Traditional French cuisine in a cafeteria-style setting. With our small group, we fit at one long table and enjoyed discussing what we had seen, shared ww2 movie recommendations and got to know each other more. 7) The cemetery is far more beautiful than any photo or movie can illustrate. We were there in early March, when it's still quite cold in France, so I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in spring/summer/fall. What a beautiful setting for honoring the sacrifice of these amazing, brave men! It was also humbling to be at the cemetery when the American flags were lowered with TAPS playing. Wow! Last things to know for logistics ... It's a very early start, 7am meet-up, but Bluefox made it easy by having it at a nice cafe where we could grab a croissant and coffee before taking off. Yes, it's almost 5.5 hours of driving, and a full day on your itinerary, but you're not driving (in fact, you can nap) and you will never watch a ww2 movie the same way. You will not regret it! You will get a stop going and returning at a gas station / convenience store, allowing us to take a break and grab some snacks. In addition, there is not a ton of walking, and you don't really walk on the beaches, unless you want to. It rains in Normandy often, so bring a rain jacket for just in case.

Great day trip to Normandy! - We booked an all day excursion to Normandy and Brune was our tour guide. Brune was very knowledgeable and did a great job taking us around Normandy. We were able to see everything we wanted and felt like we had just enough time at each location. She even made adjustments to meet the needs of our small group. Very personable and easy to talk to and she made sure we were well taken care of! Highly recommend!

Excellent and Educational - Enzo was an excellent tour guide. Knew his history, was relaxed and pleasant and made us all feel comfortable. I especially appreciated his respect for the sacred sites where so many precious young men gave their lives. A very moving experience to visit these memorial sites with my 17-year-old son. I especially appreciated arriving at the Normandy cemetery at the time the retiring of the flags took place. There were plenty of vehicle stops along the way to use the toilets and buy food.

Free lunch for Viator, average tour for you. - Very average tour. There are better ones out there. Also, our tour guide was texting while driving and seemed more interested in racing the other viator van then talking about the history of Normandy with us. Lunch spot was terrible and I think was chosen because the tour guide received a free meal.
