Highlights
  • Le Marais - Start by understanding the historic importance of the Marais, which once laid beyond the center of Paris. Today, it is at the heart of the city. Discover the Church of Saint Paul and Saint Louis before walking through the courtyard of the majestic Hotel de Sully. Continue experiencing the royal history of the Marais by exploring the pristine Place des Vosges, a public square with unparalleled beauty in Paris. Afterwards, move forward in time to learn all about the bustling Jewish community that put the Marais on the map through the 18th and 19th centuries. Wander the bakeries and boutiques of the Pletzl before strolling the shop-laden rue des Francs Bourgeois. All the while you’ll discover mansion after mansion, former homes to the nobility that once called the Marais home. Some are now museums, like the highly worthwhile Musée Carnavalet. The tour may also introduce you to both the Hotel de Ville, or City Hall, and the Pompidou Center, both architectural masterpieces from very different periods.

He was so knowledgable in all areas we questioned him in and was so balanced and considered in his guiding and conversation. We loved our tour and would thoroughly recommend him to anyone. Incredible tour, history lesson, food tour and experience - My family and I loved our tour with Francois. Francois gave us a history lesson in an engaging, informative and meaningful way. He kept our kids (age 13 and 10) interested and active and he was somber when necessary and funny and entertaining but thoughtful throughout. The tour was very heavy for our family at times as he explained the history of France and WWII but this was a necessary part of the tour and area as we walked around. The visit to the Shoah Memorial was particularly very hard for us but a necessary visit and history to experience and learn about. He explained the history respectfully and we all walked away having learned so much and deeply touched. He rounded out the tour of the neighborhood with his extensive knowledge of French and European history and he gave us contemporary glimpses into the art scene by visiting contemporary galleries, shopping, and patisseries and boulangeries. We would 11/10 recommend this tour and experience to anyone looking for something personal and poignant and engaging.

Passionate guide - We highly recommend the guided tour if you won’t be able to spend all day. Our guide, Claudio, was very passionate about the pieces he was showing us. He was very helpful when asked questions and he also engaged us with questions. I highly recommend any tour where he is your guide.
