Highlights
  • Le Marais - Start by understanding the historic importance of the Marais, which once laid beyond the center of Paris. Today, it is at the heart of the city. Discover the Church of Saint Paul and Saint Louis before walking through the courtyard of the majestic Hotel de Sully. Continue experiencing the royal history of the Marais by exploring the pristine Place des Vosges, a public square with unparalleled beauty in Paris. Afterwards, move forward in time to learn all about the bustling Jewish community that put the Marais on the map through the 18th and 19th centuries. Wander the bakeries and boutiques of the Pletzl before strolling the shop-laden rue des Francs Bourgeois. All the while you’ll discover mansion after mansion, former homes to the nobility that once called the Marais home. Some are now museums, like the highly worthwhile Musée Carnavalet. The tour may also introduce you to both the Hotel de Ville, or City Hall, and the Pompidou Center, both architectural masterpieces from very different periods.

Excellent Tour of Marais District - Our tour guide Tamar was very knowledgeable about history, art and architecture in the Marais District. She also tempted us by pointing out the best food places - we went for the best eclaire ever. Tamar gave us a very pleasant learning experience, a lovely person.

Must do in Paris and ask for Hugo! - You absolutely have to do this walking tour in Paris. It may not be as famous as the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower, but I cannot stress enough how amazing it was. We were fortunate enough to have Hugo as our guide for the second time, and his knowledge was truly impressive. It was such a intellectually enlightening experience. Huge shoutout to Hugo and Babylon for a fantastic job! If you're planning a trip to Paris, you have to go with Babylon as your tour company.

Wonderful Walking Tour! - Matthieu was fantastic! Very friendly, informative, knowledgeable, and interesting. Our walking tour of the La Marias district and Jewish quarter with him was truly memorable. We began our journey in the heart of La Marias district, where Matthieu introduced us to the rich history of the area. We strolled through narrow, cobblestone streets, surrounded by charming old buildings. Matthieu's historical anecdotes and architectural insights brought the district to life. Next, we ventured into the Jewish quarter, a place steeped in culture and history. Matthieu's deep understanding of the Jewish heritage in this area was truly impressive. In conclusion, Matthieu's walking tour of the La Marias district and Jewish quarter was an absolute highlight of our trip. His expertise, enthusiasm, and warm personality made it an unforgettable experience. We left with a deeper appreciation for the history and culture of this remarkable area, and we highly recommend Matthieu's tour to anyone visiting the city.

Marais - Our guide gave us lots of great information and was very good. However, we were very interested in the Jewish portion and there wasn’t that much to see.
