Great food tour! - We had a great tour with Anukool - he was informative, took time to discuss the food selections (which were terrific) and shared interesting stories of Paris and his own travels. When you book a private tour, having a personable, informed guide is a necessity and Anukool was all that and more. A 10+ experience!!

Local specialties at historic neighborhood market - Anukool started our tasting at a local market and gave us the history. The cheese and tamponade were excellent. The desserts and pastries in the local neighborhood were also excellent. Finishing with charcuterie board and crepes provided us with an extensive variety. He is very personable and knowledgeable in history. It was a lovely experience!

Amazing Food Tour! - We had the best experience! I was hesitant to book this tour after reading reviews, but so glad I did. Martina is AMAZING. She really listened to what we wanted and made this a teenage friendly experience that was fun for the whole family. We had amazing food and also an adventure. Martina is a wealth of knowledge that made this experience so fun and she has surprises in store. I love that this is not a cookie cutter food tour and she tailors it for you. I highly highly recommend her.

Unplanned, unprofessional, and overall not worth the money - This wasn’t much of a food tour. We went to two restaurants total (one Italian bistro and one crêperie). At the first restaurant we had fried calamari, a fried chicken cutlet, and sardine rillettes. We then took a train to another part of town and had a crepe. The boulangerie she was going to take us to was closed, so we only tasted 4 items by the end of the tour (even though we paid for 6). Though I’m not sure I would call this a tour. It was more like a 300€ lunch with cheap/not-particularly-interesting food and conversation with a stranger about her business ventures and family dynamics. We expected that we would be walking around, learning about the area, and trying food on something of a preplanned tour route (like your standard walking tour). The guide didn’t talk about the city almost at all. She spent a lot of time complaining about her previous guests she had taken on a tour earlier in the day. She clearly didn’t have a preplanned route - she just made it up on the fly, and consequently it was a bad experience. Most frustratingly, we made it very clear to the guide that we needed to return to the start location of the tour by the prescribed end time (2 hours). Instead, she left us on the other side of the city 2 and a half hours later (literally 30 minutes of travel from where we started), leaving us racing at rush hour to get to another reservation we had. The tour guide was nice, but this whole experience felt unplanned, unprofessional, and a waste of our money and time.

Not "Local" at all - disappointing waste of time and money - My experience with the “award-winning Private food tour with 6 tastings” was terrible and very similar to a recent review by Alex. I selected the tour based on numerous good reviews but unfortunately it was a flop that cost us a lot of money and wasted time. I had booked the tour for myself and my daughter, my sister-in-law and my niece who had all met in Paris for a special Mother’s Day weekend. To start things off our guide was late to the designated meeting point. She then told us we were going to walk to the subway and take it to an entirely different location - and told us to go and purchase our tickets. We were very confused as to why we met at one location and then had to waste at least 15 minutes each way to get to another location during a short 2 hour tour. The new location had no street life or vibe and we didn’t even walk around but entered the restaurant on the first corner after coming up from the subway. After our guide argued with the host about a table for us, we were served a 3 course meal. During the meal, our guide did not tell us anything about French life or food or the city but wanted to know what our expectations were for the tour. She did not even know anything about the food we were eating. She had nothing “local” to tell us (she had lived in Paris for 10 years and had only worked for Withlocals for two weeks) clearly did not even know the format for a tasting tour. We were getting very frustrated at this point and pulled up the listing of the tour to show her. She stated that she had received no information that matched the description and seemed to have no guidelines for how to conduct the tour. We spent an hour there basically hearing about her experience as a tour guide and letting her know that it really wasn’t living up to our expectations. After our meal we made our way across the street to a bakery where she purchased a couple of baguettes for us with the promise of some cheese “if we can find it”. We never did because at this point we were almost out of time - we had to get back to our meeting point. When we came up from the subway she spotted a macaron shop and let us select some of the cookies to take with us. She then handed us the bag of baguettes and that was it! We could not believe that we had just spent several hours of our short time in the beautiful, historic city of Paris in a strange location which had no street life with a woman who did not share one bit of local information.  I did reach out directly to Withlocals and TripAdvisor to request a refund but received a bit of a runaround before my claim was rejected.
