Highlights
  • Paris - 07:30 Pick up from Your hotel in Paris and departure destination Caen by our air conditioned comfortable Mercedes minivan. It takes about 3 hours (240 km) to reach the Memorial of Caen. One stop at the rest area will be maid.
  • Memorial de Caen - 10:30 - 12:00 Visit of The Caen Memorial and Museum, located in the British Sword Beach sector. Caen Museum is the best World War II museum in France. You will get an overview of the battle of Normandy as well the sense of the personal lives of the people who took part in it. An excellent 19-minute film documents this battle with original historic footage.
12:00 Departure to Arromanches-les-Bains. It takes about 0,5 hour (30 km) on the national roads crossing beautiful countryside and small villages.
  • Arromanches-les-Bains - 12:30 - 13:30 Stop for Lunch and visit of Arromanches.
The way from Caen Memorial to the Arromanches-les-Bains is 26 km and takes just half an hour. Arromanches is a small seaside town famous for its former artificial Mulberry Harbour. Located in the center of the Gold Beach landing zone it played an invaluable role in the D-Day landings. The Allies built here an artificial temporary harbour for unloading of vehicles, materials, and people. Mulberry Harbour had, by June 12, 1944, helped bring 300,000 men, 54,000 vehicles, and 104,000 tons of supplies to Europe.
  • Arromanches 360 Circular Cinema - 13:30 - 14:30 Visit of the 360 Circular Cinema and view point over the bay of Arromanches.
14:30 Departure to the Normandy American Cemetery & Visitor Center. It is just half an hour drive (20 km).
  • Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer - 15:00 Arrival and Visit of the Normandy American Cemetery & Visitor Center, located in Colleville-sur-Mer and overlooking Omaha Beach. It contains 9,387 U.S. soldiers, most of whom were killed during the Normandy Landings and the Wall of the Missing with the names of 1,557 soldiers missing in action. The cliffs leading down to the beaches contain the remnants of the German defences, including concrete casemates with memorials to the soldiers.
At Normandy American Cemetery you’ll see as well the semicircular memorial colonnade with the sculpture “Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves” and large maps of military operations; and the most beautiful, idyllic spot on Planet Earth.
16:20 Departure to Omaha Beaches. It takes just 10 minutes (5 km).
  • Omaha Beach - 16:45 Arrival at Omaha Beaches. Learn about the huge sacrifice made by the 34 000 men who landed here on D-Day. Omaha Beach is the most popular travellers destination of the D-Day Beaches.
17:15 Departure to Pointe du Hoc. I takes 15 minutes (10 km).
  • Pointe Du Hoc Memorial - 17:30 Arrival at Pointe du Hoc, a prominent cliff between Utah and Omaha Beach. This point was important because it was the highest land between Omaha and Utah beaches and could thus fire upon both of them. The site was a gun battery, fortified with concrete casemates and gun pits, forming part of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall defences. Visiting the Pointe du Hoc You will learn about the 2nd Ranger battalion sacrifice to take this crucial gun battery on the cliffs of Omaha Beach on June 6th 1944. Many of the original fortifications and bunkers remain on the site and are open to the public, including the fire control casemate, on top of which there is a monument to the 2nd Ranger Battalion.
18:30 Departure to Paris. It takes about 3,5 hours (300 km).
  • Paris - 21:30 to 22:00 Arrival in Paris. Drop off at Your hotel.

Amazing moments with real people… - What an amazing moment in our lives. Rustam, our tour guide, we nicknamed “Rusty” was amazing as he orchestrated our time with video prior to reaching destinations, elaborated on activities and guided us providing us ample time to experience locations. Rustam was not only well-spoken but, he was so much fun and we didn’t want the tour to end. It was not just about the tour, it was about people and here is a winner. Cheers! Not a traditionally guided tour, just nice transport - Be advised, this is not a "guided" tour so much as transport to the mentioned places. There was no traditional guide, just a driver who's English was good, but not great. He was not able to offer any information along the journey about the places along the way. Instead, you are taken to each stop, and you can browse on your own. We were expecting a guided tour based on the description of a "guide-driver". This is a fairly expensive taxi ride. That said, the stops were great, and the driver was courteous and did his best to take care of us.

Comfortable, but not what we expected - Pointe du Hoc was amazing. Best part of the trip. Unfortunately, our guide did not speak English (which it stated they would in the description). We had hoped for someone to actually “guide” us, but our driver would take us to each point and then explain in very broken English what time we needed to be back at the car. He was very nice and the car was clean & comfortable, which is great for a long day of driving. But for the money, I don’t feel we got what we paid for.

Worst Tour I have ever booked for a client - Stay away from Clewel Travel - Beware - You won't get what you paid for and you won't get a response or compensation when you advise you didn't get what you paid for. Stay away from booking this tour. I am a travel advisor and I booked it for a client with Viator. It clearly stated English speaking guide, otherwise I would have never booked it and would have booked a small group shared tour that was less then one third of the cost. Sadly my client received a driver only that only spoke Ukranian. My client spoke French and asked if he spoke french since no English and he said no. Since this was a highlight for my client and his grandson, they were so disappointed. The driver used a translator on his phone that was horrible and not translated accurately, so they were guessing what to do and how to proceed at each stop. The worst part of this is when I wrote Viator and asked for a refund since it clearly wasn't what the client paid for. I was told multiple times by Viator that they confirmed the services were provided. I advised over and over, he drove them but didn't speak one word of English. So how is this a private guided English speaking tour. They responded again that it the client received all the services. I wasn't advising the client didn't get tickets and didn't get dropped off for every sight advised as a visit. He didn't have an English speaking guide which it clearly stated on the voucher and on the website for Viator. So beware and don't book anything with Clewel travel as they knew what happened during the tour and proceeded to say they supplied the booked service. I will also no longer book Viator because they didn't back the product that they allow to be sold on their site. They finally came back and gave the client 25% refund on this service after I advised to at least refund them 50% considering they got less than half a tour a driver and no English guide.
