Additional Information

Explore the inspiration behind centuries of artists and dreamers in Montmartre on this captivating two-hour private stroll. Your guide will delve into the history, cuisine, culture, and art of this dynamic district, once home to renowned painters like Van Gogh.

Our journey commences at Moulin Rouge, the birthplace of the can-can and a favorite spot of artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Ascent the winding paths and stop by popular spots: the Cafe des 2 Moulins featured in ‘Amélie,’ old Rue des Abbesses, and the final two windmills in Paris. Gaze upon the city’s one and only vineyard too.

We culminate our tour at Paris’s highest natural peak, the apex of Montmartre. Here, we’ll take a moment to appreciate the landscape before proceeding to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. If the basilica happens to be shut, your guide will impart knowledge about this 19th-century church while you marvel at its impressive architecture.

Tour Montmartre - The tour was great. Denise was very interesting. She is a painter herself and has lived all over the world. She was American so very easy to understand. She told us lots of interesting stories of painters etc and reminded us of pick pockets.

Great walking tour of Montmartre - A great waking tour of the area. Comfortable waking shoes a must though! Lots of uphill walking! Sophie was great. She gave us lots of really interesting facts in a really coherent manner. Saw lots and came away feeling like I’d really ‘seen’ Montmartre and knew a lot about the area/ Paris. Would highly recommend.

Montmarte history and stories of influential artists. - We really enjoyed this walking tour. Linda had an incredible breadth of knowledge about art/artist history and shared her passion with the group. We saw landmarks that might not have caught our eye as we walked through the city. Taking this tour has peaked our curiosity such that we will certainly consider taking advantage of more of these in other cities that we visit.
