Champagne - This tour was WONDERFUL!!! We went to Moet andChandon first and then a very small family champagnery. Wonderful champagnes and very informative guide.

Loved the experience! - Fred, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and entertaining. We had two very different and excellent Champagne experiences - one at a large producer in Reims and the other a small operation in Epernay.

Day Trip to Reims France and a tour of the Champagne region - Our guide picked us up from our hotel in Paris and we drove two hours to the town of Reims, France to start our first tour at Taittinger Vineyard which was excellent. The tour was excellent. we then went to see the Notre Dame Cathedral in Reims which was breath taking to see. After a private two-hour lunch at a great restaurant, we then visited a small champagne producer and stayed for two hours tasting several different local champagnes. We then visited the spot where Dom Perignon was buried and then headed back for a long two ghour drive back into paris. Our guide Karim was excellent and very knowledgeable on several areas of history and on champagne production. My only negative comment was that we were promised that our trip to the Champagne region that we would be travelling in a Mercedes Class SUV for the trip and that didn't happen as we were picked up in our tour guide personal vehicle - a Volkswagen Jetta.

Perfect day in the Champagne region - This excursion to Champagne was the highlight of our family trip to Paris. Our guide, Fred, was prompt and shared some of the history of the region since the first king of France (Clovis) as well as explaining the entire champagne making process on our way to Reims. He had a great sense of humor, and was very accommodating to our wishes, for a customized experience. We began our visit at le cathedrale de notre dame de Reims, and had a quick coffee and pastry at Paul patisserie. We visited Taitinger before lunch, stopped for lunch in town (not included), and then visited a small maison du champagne called Morlet, which was wonderful. Monsieur Morlet speaks only French and led us onto the “backstage” to observe every step of the art of producing champagne, including the turning, disgorging, corking, and of course, tasting, of fine champagne. He did this in such an animated way (with Fred translating) that my college aged sons were thoroughly enthralled. And the champagne and Ratafia (a sherry-like liquor only produced in the champagne region) were exquisite. I brought a few bottles home since this smallish operation does not export. Between the large and small champagne tours, we stopped for photos and to hear some of the history of other hamlets in the champagne area- Epernay, Ays, and others. Overall a lovely day and a memorable experience!

Amazing! - We had the most amazing tour with Julien last week! He was a wealth of knowledge and provided us with some really great information about Paris, Champagne, and all the sites between our hotel and the champagne houses. He also took us through some historical sites along the way - it was like we got 3/4 yours for one! To top it off, with the weather being nice he offered to have a picnic for lunch and put together the best assortment of local chesses, meats, and desserts for us to enjoy. One of the best tours we've ever had thanks Julien!

#WeLoveParismatic - I have a separate review of our experience with this company’s half day Versailles tour as well. My husband and I were in Paris for 6 days, and he REALLY wanted to go to Champagne, despite the distance and time commitment. I knew we could take a train from Paris, but having had bad experiences on self-guided adventures before, I wanted to ensure this trip was stress free. Although my husband is an avid fan of wine (we live in California and he grew up in Napa, even worked for wineries), I am physically unable to tolerate wines (sulfates), so I was looking for every opportunity to make the experience as pleasant for myself. Fred, who we had met the day prior and conducted our Versailles experience, brought his colleague, Julien. They both speak English and have deep roots in history, but Julien has a very special interest in wine, so Fred thought this would enhance our experience (at no extra cost). They picked us up at our hotel, and Julien promptly sent my husband up to get thicker coats because it would be freezing most of the day, so thoughtful. The car was again, impeccably clean and spacious. We left Paris early, stopped for a quick snack and espresso, and continued on the drive while Julien and Fred took turns telling us stories of the region, agricultural and economic sources, and laid the foundation for our Champagne experience by explaining domaines, houses, styles, and grape varietals. Our first stop was the Notre Dame in Reims, which was beautiful. I will leave the education and explanation of the art and unique nature of this site to the experts, but it was such a great experience as the Notre Dame in Paris is still closed. We then went to Tattinger, a bigger, better known house with incredible chalk caves. We enjoyed a tasting, and then off to an incredible lunch. Julien kept adjusting the day for what we wanted, and I was both impressed and grateful. Instead of doing two bigger houses, we went to a smaller Champagne producer in the afternoon where the lovely host (who also spoke English very well). The tasting was EXCELLENT, and we took home some lovely vintages. After the smaller house, we drove to the Dom Perignon Abbey, where Julien found incredible areas at sunset for my husband to take pictures. The scenery of the river and the vines at sunset was magnificent. They drove us back home right in time for us to catch another reservation. These guys are so wonderful, passionate, and make great conversation. I highly recommend them, and if you are coming from California (as we were) they would love a good tequila or a bottle of Napa red for comparison to the local fare. We’ll be sending them one when we get back, and I’m excited to book the Louvre with them as I’m certain it will make it more interesting than standing there staring at art.
