Did you know that a brief 40-minute train journey from Paris can transport you completely into the lap of nature? While you’re in Paris, consider switching things up and embarking on a scenic hike in beautiful countryside. This small group excursion, limited to just 10 people, traces the footprints of renowned Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh, all the way from Pontoise to Meriel via Auvers sur Oise.
Van Gogh created numerous esteemed masterpieces in Auvers sur Oise (80 to be precise). He passed away in 1890 and was interred in the village with his brother Theo. Our trek will also lead us through the town of Pontoise, the rural landscapes of Vexin, the charming village of Auvers sur Oise, and alongside the Oise river till we reach Meriel, from where we board our return train to Paris.
DO KEEP IN MIND that this is a 7.5 miles HIKE that includes a few slopes. To truly relish the walk, you need to be reasonably fit. This implies being capable of briskly walking a minimum of 5km without taking breaks. Be aware that the tour spans 5 hours.

Excellent Tour: Van Gogh and the French countryside. - If you’re curious about life outside of Paris and wish to learn more about where Van Gogh lived and painted toward the end of his life, this tour is for you! Our guide created a thoughtful and informative tour that kept my family (including 2 children, ages 8 and 9) engaged the entire time. Thanks to our guide’s careful planning, we came away from this day hike with a deeper understanding of Van Gogh’s experience in this beautiful area of France. Our guide was well prepared and friendly. I highly recommend this experience.

Must do for Van Gogh Fans! - This is a MUST do for any Van Gogh fan!! I would recommend wearing good walking shoes and dressing comfortably. You will walk at a decent speed for 7.5 miles. Make sure to stay hydrated but don’t over hydrate because bathroom breaks are minimal. The scenery is amazing! This tour is personalized by Victor the tour guide so you won’t find anything like it.

You should Gogh 😂 - Absolutely enjoyed this hike through the footsteps of Van Gogh. Victor did a wonderful job of keeping us engaged throughout the hike with all the fun facts of Vincent Van Gogh. I would recommend this tour, but be ready to put in 20,000 steps and go at a fast pace, but it’s worth it!

Vincent Van hike! - Victor was knowledgeable and the hike was surprisingly interactive. It’s a hike, so don’t expect a leisurely walk. We logged 20,000 steps and back in time to enjoy a small nap before scouting food. I knew very little about Van Gogh, but after this tour I’m an expert according to Victor 😌

An incredible experience - This tour was absolutely amazing!. Victor was a wealth of knowledge on everything Vincent!
He was so passionate about everything he shared with us. The hike was so picturesque, passing through a beautiful hamlet and into the forest. He took us to all the places of interest in the beautiful village of Auvers Sur Oise.
If you want to literiflow in Van Goghs footsteps this is the tour for you.

Hiking through Van Gogh's History - I had such a great time hiking with Victor and company to many places where Van Gogh drew inspiration for his paintings. It was really interesting to see the evolution of his artwork as he transitioned from the realism style to impressionism style of painting. I learned a lot about his personal life. I also learned how his paintings eventually captured the hearts of people around the world. Highly recommend!

Incredible hiking tour to meet Impressionism - The visit was great and amazing. Victor knew a lot about Impressionism, Van Gogh life. The tour was extraordinary with beautiful places in the French countryside, 45 min far from Paris.
We visited the Oise river with Quizzes, we had lunch in the castle garden. Victor was very kind and even proposed us some tea to warm up.
We visited Auvert village with lots of anecdotes about Vincent Van Gogh.
Good sport, excellent guide, I recommend this tour at all cost if you visit Paris.

Auvert - Victor was a tour guide who kept the hiking trip engaging. He shared stories, asked trivia questions, and provided a headset to better listen. He is passionate about his work and am glad I attended today.
