Additional Information

The Château de Chantilly, a grand estate located 40km away from Paris, remains in its original 1871 condition. Crafted by Henri d’Orléans, it boasts a large Renaissance-style castle, expansive gardens in various styles, and stables that are in use to this day.

It’s important to note that the Domaine de Chantilly was the creation of Henry of Orleans, the Duke of Aumale. A century on, due to his foresight, Chantilly remains conserved. A notable collector without an heir, he bequeathed his belongings to the Institut de France, stipulating in his last will that the Musée Condée be made accessible to the public after his death.

Great getaway for a solo traveler - I am so glad I went to Chantilly. I had been disappointed that a Giverny tour was canceled because the house and gardens do not open until the first of April. It gave me the opportunity to look for something else. The castle is beautiful, and the shows aren't going, but the horse museum and grand stables are fabulous. We were able to trek through the villages, too. It's a beautiful area and worth it! Mr Vann was great!
