A Journey Through Time: Discovering Kyrenia’s Historic Castles

Our journey began with a visit to the iconic Kyrenia Castle, a structure that has stood the test of time since its original construction by the Byzantines in the 7th century. One of the highlights is the shipwreck museum, which displays the remains of a 4th-century BC Greek merchant ship. This exhibit, in particular, resonated with me, as it brought to life the maritime history of the region, a subject I have long been passionate about.

As I explored the castle’s various levels and hidden chambers, I was struck by the ingenuity of its design, which allowed it to serve as both a lookout post and a formidable fortress.
