A broad-spectrum tour of the contemporary city, followed by a visit to Casco Antiguo, a stronghold of colonial architecture, the Cathedral, and the Gold Altar. We’ll also see the Miraflores Locks of the Panama Canal, where the passage of ships can be witnessed. We’ll further enhance the tour with a journey through the 4 exhibition rooms dedicated to the modern world’s eighth wonder. Subsequently, we’ll explore the Amador Causeway, a sea wall constructed by Americans to secure the Panama Canal’s navigable route. A brief halt at the Duty Free will be made here. For those keen on taking home a memento, a mandatory stop at the craft market is certain.

Awsome - Guids were great, very informative and friendly. Very helpful and getting me back to the canal to see an actual ship. Go through since we missed them in the morning. The IMAX movie is well worth it.

Interesting History - The visitor center was very informative and the tour of the lock area (both old and new ) was interesting. There is plenty of parking. There is an observation deck you can watch vessels coming and going through the canal. Panama City is a very vibrant city.

And easy quick visit to the canal - An easy tour! You can skip the IMAX movie and head right to the locks. They have a nice bar and refreshments including popcorn! If you Watch the different apps you can time your visit with a ship coming through. It’s something to see. Good two level viewing areas but bring water as it’s hot!

Good tour - Our guide was great and told us a lot about Panama. He was also great with our three children and engaged them. We enjoyed the visit to Panama Canal, but would have preferred to stay there a little longer. The IMAX 3D movie was great. Then we did a tour around the old town and some other sites. It was a good introductory tour of Panama for our one day lay over.

Miraflores Panama Canal Visitor Centre - We visited the Miraflores Panama Canal Centre as part of a half day tour organized by Audley Travel
The centre was extremely busy, many cruise boat visitors, also we visited to see the 1345 viewing of the Panama Canal movie which is a 3D experience worth seeing. But it was full so we reversed the visit and went to see a vessel lift through the lock and then jumped into an early queue for the 1445 movie.
It is worth a visit. It’s an extraordinary facility and a great story to see and hear about, worth seeing the lock working to drop the vessels down to the Pacific level of the lake and then see the movie to understand how the Canal was created.
My view would actually be to visit either as early as you can to avoid the Cruise passengers who are frankly there is their hundreds after around 10.00 am ar take a late visit and hope the cruise guys have cleared off and you get the opportunity to see the operation without the crowds that we experienced. Avoid weekends at all costs.
All in all a worthwhile but not cheap experience.
