Journey to the Heart of San Blas

The day began with the sun peeking over the horizon, casting a golden glow over Panama City. I was picked up in a comfortable 4x4, and as we drove east, the cityscape gradually gave way to lush greenery. The anticipation was palpable as we headed north through the Llano-Cartí road, a route that promised a glimpse of Panama’s rich biodiversity. The journey was a visual feast, with sightings of curious monkeys swinging through the trees, colorful parrots flitting about, and the occasional sloth lazily hanging from a branch. The adventure continued as we made our way to the Natural Pool, a sandbank in the middle of the sea that was once known as Coco Island. I couldn’t resist purchasing a few souvenirs, including the beautifully crafted molas and winis, hand bracelets that are a testament to the artistry of the Guna community.

As the day came to a close, we made our way back to Panama City, the memories of San Blas etched in my mind.
