Additional Information

Hierapolis, famously referred to as the ‘Sacred City,’ was a historical Greco-Roman city situated in Phrygia upon thermal springs in Southwest Anatolia. Its remnants lie close to modern-day Pamukkale.

Hierapolis is acclaimed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The thermal springs, functioning as a wellness center since the 2nd century B.C.E., attracted many seeking treatment for various maladies, many of whom chose to spend their twilight years or meet their end here.

Points of interest include the extensive graveyard teeming with sarcophagi, the main thoroughfare with its gates and public bathrooms, the magnificent cathedral, the amphitheatre, and St. Philip’s tomb. The thermal springs facilitate cascades colloquially known as the Cotton Castle. Despite the lengthy journey from Antalya requiring an early departure and late return, the magnificence of this place justifies the effort.

Amazing trip and would definitely recommend - We did this trip on March 29th 2024 and the weather was really nice and warm and got up to 26°C. As we were running early the tour guide took us to a jewellery shop where you could buy jewellery with the Turkish stone Zultanite in it. We then went to a wine tasting place free of charge and did some wine tasting. These things were optional and we only did them because we were running early and the group wanted to do it. We then got to the restaurant at around 12pm which was a very nice restaurant offering a buffet service which I thoroughly enjoyed. We then got into Pammukelle at around 1pm and we then decided as a group to pay for the shuttle which was about £3 each person and was definitely worth it. The tour guide Bekir was amazing and very knowledgeable and funny. This tour lasted about 45mins and then we had around 3 hours to walk round ourselves. You can go in the calcium pools at no extra charge which are really beautiful and would definitely recommend and you can also go in the Cleopatra pool for around £5 which again I would definitely say is worth it and when I went it was not very busy either. When I’m Turkey I was slightly nervous about going on this trip as I had heard negative things about this trip (by people not going there) but it was 100% worth it and thoroughly enjoyed the day. I did paragliding at Pamukelle for £40 whilst my girlfriend went to a clothes factory which u could do if u had finished in Pamukelle early. Like the rest of the reviews I would highly recommend this trip just bear in mind the journey takes around 4 hours each way with some bathroom stops included in that time.

Lovely memories made! - A great full day tour seeing some incredible sites. The provided lunch was also in a lovely location and had lots of variety including lots of vegetarian options for my partner and I. We were picked up and dropped from our hotel so the whole trip was very convenient. The tour guide (Wish) also had a lot of knowledge both about Antalya, the historic sites and Pamukkale, she was really bubbly and fun and kept the energy levels of the group up throughout the day. We visited at the very end of March and the temperature was perfect, not too hot yet and the swim in the Cleopatra’s pool was a perfect swim after seeing the sites. I would recommend some protective pool shoes as I stubbed my toes a couple of times in the pool ruins but that just would be my preference if we visited again. Highly recommend this day trip to get to know more of Antalya and create some amazing memories!

Wonderful guided Tour to magical Pamukkale - We went at the end of March and it was an absolutely lovely time of year to visit. If you are debating whether or not to book this tour, I can only highly recommend it. Dilek was a lovely tour guide - everything you could Wish for! She was so nice to give a QR code with her contact details at the beginning of the day in case we got separated and made it very easy to contact her and make arrangements throughout the day. The driver Dawood was very patient, friendly and accommodating. Dilek shared so much lovely history about Antalya and Turkey throughout the day that would have been absolutely missed if we had tried to do a trip on our own without a guide. 5 stars - would book this trip again.

Great tour by amazing tour guide - Thank you so much to our tour guide Bekir, he had lots of very interesting facts about all the sites and gave us plenty of time to do all the activities we want so we didn’t have to do anything we didn’t want to. Had plenty of stops on the way and lots of opportunities to buy great souvenirs, drinks and food and see the heritage sites. Would definitely recommend!
