Río Pacuare - After picking you up early in the morning at your hotel in San José we headed
to the first capital of the country, Cartago. After crossing through the center of this
province we will pass the towns of Paraíso, Cervantes, Juan Viñas and Turrialba, the
capital of rafting in Costa Rica. During this journey of approximately 2.5
hours we will have a typical breakfast before starting the adventure of the rapids
class III and IV.
Our team will be waiting for you at the well-known Finca 3X, where you will be given a
safety briefing on the riverbank before venturing out on the 18 miles that
They run along the Pacuare River. Passing the popular rapids of Huacas, Pele el Ojo and
Maroons.
The tour includes buffet lunch on the river, 5 hours of adventure on the river, breakfast
typical, river guide, transportation to and from San José with guide, rafting equipment and

This journey embarks you on one of the most stunning, globally renowned rivers recognized for its picturesque landscape, cascades, rapids, and crystal-clear water bodies. The stretch of the river in question is ideal for rafting novices (of mild to moderate difficulty level).
An early morning pickup from your San José lodging sets you on course to the country’s original capital, Cartago. As we traverse the heart of the province, we’ll glimpse the towns of Paraíso, Cervantes, Juan Viñas, and Turrialba, the de facto rafting haven of Costa Rica. This roughly 2.5-hour travel experience includes a traditional breakfast before embarking on the rapid class III and IV journey.
Our crew will greet you at the renowned Finca 3X, where a safety rundown will be provided riverside, prior to launching the 18-mile course along the Pacuare River. This adventure includes navigating the famed Huacas, Pele el Ojo, and Cimarrones rapids.

You should do it - we recommend - Exciting tour on Rio Pacuare. We had a pick up in Turrialba. The water in the river was challenging. It was the challenge we were looking for. We had a break on the river with great food. The place was clean and lovely. In the end you can have a shower and change your clothes to get dry again. They bring you back to the starting point.

Rafting to and from Rios lodge - We had a great time rafting to and from Rios Lodge. Christopher was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. The river is beautiful, and the rapids are exciting but felt safe in the lowish waters of May. Wear sunscreen on your legs-- especially knees-- pack a towel for when you change after, and bring a waterproof camera.

A Blast on the Pucuare! - Fantastic rafting down the Pacuare River! Our trip was part of a tour that included a stay over midway at the Tropical River Lodge, which added a bit of relaxation to the excursion. When we went the day was hot and the water warm, so getting wet was part of the fun. Be prepared to get splashed alot. Follow the recommendations for what to wear, and you'll be fine.
Our guide Ariane was great fun and always in control of the boat. We felt safe, even at the river's roughest. We'd do it again in a flash!

Brilliant in every way! - We had a fantastic day rafting with Experience Costa Rica. It totally exceeded our expectations. We had class 1-4 rapids and, although we are beginners, our river guide, Christofer, made us feel super safe. The scenery on the Pacuare river is really spectacular and we saw lots of different birds and butterflies. The stop for lunch in a ‘ranch’ built by the local indigenous people in a traditional way, was in a wonderful position with beautiful views of the river, and the food was delicious - a freshly prepared burrito buffet. Throughout the day, our guides were knowledgeable and generous in sharing information about the area, the flora and fauna, and took care to work in a really sustainable way, in collaboration with the indigenous people. We were picked up in San Jose from our hotel and dropped off in Peurto Viejo afterwards. Both drivers were excellent and everything ran very smoothly. I cannot recommend this company highly enough - super professional and lots of fun! We did this on our first day in CR but I think it will be hard to beat! Brilliant in every way!

Highly recommended white water rafting !! - Simply amazing whitewater rafting at Pacuare River. Our guide Christopher (Chris) was an expert and very professional. We got picked up and dropped after at our hotel in San Jose. The transport was also exceptional. This is my second time doing rafting in Costa Rica and the Pacuare River is a jewel - absolutely a must see. The time of the year was great with adrenaline, sightseeing and great logistics overall. I highly recommend this company and the tour - we will come back with our teen girls
