• Santuarios del Mar - Embark on an adventure from Santuarios del Mar, an overwater hotel located on Isla Colón’s stunning Saigon Bay in Bocas del Toro. Guests can arrive by taxi or water taxi, and from the dock, we’ll set off in kayaks.

From Santuarios, the journey continues to a picturesque mangrove island featuring a charming little reef. Participants will have the opportunity to dive into the water from the kayaks to explore the nearby coral reef.

This ecotour is crafted to provide an educational experience about the tropical ecology of the diverse ecosystems we will explore, including seagrass beds, vibrant coral reefs, and intricate mangrove forests. Discussions will cover the importance of conserving these ecosystems to ensure healthy oceans and a thriving planet.

The coral reef we will explore is teeming with life, and we will take our time to float over its vast diversity. For those who prefer not to snorkel, gliding over the reef will still offer plenty to see!

Afterward, we’ll return to the kayaks and venture out of the bay to discover serene canals and a majestic mangrove tunnel. Keep an eye out for the frequently spotted three-toed sloth, a variety of tropical birds, and perhaps even a nearby troop of howler monkeys!

Join naturalist and biologist ecotour guide @stacebird for an exciting kayak tour departing from Isla Colón’s Saigon Bay. Participants will explore diverse tropical ecosystems and discover their crucial role in maintaining healthy oceans and securing our planet’s future. There will be chances to observe sloths, a variety of tropical birds, and possibly even monkeys, while gaining insights into the tropical ecosystems they inhabit.

Enjoy a leisurely kayak journey to a mangrove island for a snorkeling adventure. The pace will be relaxed, allowing participants to appreciate the intricate beauty of the reef as the guide highlights and identifies marine species and the intriguing behaviors of reef life.

Participants will “hop” back into the kayaks; upper body strength is required for this segment of the excursion. For those opting out of snorkeling, the stunning reef can still be admired from the kayaks as they glide over it.

The tour continues through a couple of serene canals, leading to a cathedral-like mangrove tunnel where the significance of mangrove ecosystems will be discussed, all while keeping an eye out for wildlife.
