Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is the pioneering ethical elephant sanctuary in Phuket, where elephants can freely roam, bathe, and socialize across 30 acres of lush tropical land adjacent to the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park in Northeast Phuket. The sanctuary purchases all rescued elephants to ensure it becomes their permanent home, providing professional veterinary care for elderly and injured elephants. By visiting, guests support a sustainable, ethical, and compassionate model of elephant tourism, allowing elephants to live naturally. Very well organised - There were so many Elephant sanctuary options in Phuket and we went PES as it was one of the first in Phuket and doesn’t allow bathing so suited our values. Booking was easy via the website, pick up on time at our hotel and the organisation on the day was spot on. Gigi our guide was very enthusiastic and answered questions perfectly. We chose the canopy walk due to time restraints (and felt that we still got roughly the same time as the half day tour) with the elephants from the canopy as well as a small time on the ground. The snacks offered were a treat and the drink perfect at the end of the walk. We did like feeding the elephants however I can also see why next year they will cease this part. It will still be a great day out. Our transport back to our resort was even more organised as the shared car was just us - a bonus. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Essential & Authentic Elephant Sanctuary. - A great tour of an authentic elephant sanctuary. An absolute must do activity if you are in the area. Superbly managed throughout. A warm welcome with drinks and snacks (included), an informative video, and an excellent tour with a professional and passionate guide (ours was Alex and he was fantastic). You get to see the elephants in as natural as possible habitat, see and hear about the great and important work the sanctuary is doing and their future plans. There’s plenty of opportunity to see the elephants and take great photos. You leave feeling good about supporting such a worthwhile cause, money well spent.

Captivating !! Informative - Great experience! They provided plenty of snacks and water during the visit and even gave us free souvenir! Amazing work they’re doing in bringing awareness of the harm committed to elephants for tourism and labor work. Very ethical program- see the elephants in their happy new home!!

A Real Elephant Sanctuary, not a Show. - If you go to any elephant sanctuary, go here. They are saving elephants from torture and cruelty. They give the animals plenty of land to roam, medical care, food, and each elephant has is own caregiver all day long.
We had a private guide escorting us the whole time. The canopy walk was amazing - we had an aerial view of the elephants in their habitat. We ended the tour praying and hand feeding an elephant watermelon and bananas. On both ends of the tour they fed us delicious snacks and surprised us with a little gift.
Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is doing great work.

A truly ethical elephant sanctuary - It was lovely to visit such an ethical elephant sanctuary and see the elephants from the ground and the canopy walkway in a very natural environment. They split the visitors into small groups, ours was 7 ourselves and one other family so it was easy to hear the guide and ask questions. The guide was knowledgeable and clearly cared about the project. The fact that some of the elephants were saved from other "sanctuaries" says a lot about how different places calling themselves a sanctuary can be. Afterwards we were served very nice drinks and snacks.
I urge anyone wanting to see elephants without doing them harm to visit this sanctuary rather than others which offer rides/ bathing etc.

Elephantastic! - Love this experience. Our 3 year old daughter, my wife and I had an awesome morning visiting the retired elephants at PES. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and had funny anecdotes to share on the different retirees. Highlight for us, daughter especially, was feeding the elephants up close. The elephants are very well cared for, and that carries over to how well visitors are cared for. No shortage on drinks, snacks, parasols, refreshments or friendliness. Shout out to guide Minnie! You rock!

Happy rehabilitated elephants! - This place was awesome! Loved every moment! The care these elephants are getting is phenomenal, you can see just how happy the elephants are! Loved it and will definitely visit again! Highly recommended for anyone great for kids to see happy elephants in a natural setting and not abused into performing!
