Amazing experience - Amazing experience. Walking into this experience immediately gives you the feeling of humility. The large, over sized walls and rooms set the tone for the rest of the facility. The displays are as educational as they are entertaining, teaching while engaging. We were told to expect to spend a couple of hours touring through the exhibits and we were there for over 4. Would highly recommend this stop for anyone wanting to see some Canadian and world history. I feel a newfound respect for those who served in every facet.

A highly recommended museum and should be factored into any Ottawa visit. - This is a very impressive museum by a global standard and the most impressive war museum. However, as a British visitor of many years, it was so educational about Canadian history and the growth of a nation. Moreover, it was a revelation to see the part that Canada has played in world wars and global peace keeping that has been overlooked by Eurocentric story telling and movies. The space afforded exhibits and multi-dimensional media and artefacts is truly world class. This is a highly recommended museum and should be factored into any Ottawa visit.

Canadian Military History Buff Must-See - The Canada War Museum has a massive and comprehensive collection of Canadian military history facts and artifacts to share from early indigenous tribal warfare to modern day contributions. A word of warning, though - an earlier CWM description recommends 2 1/2 - 3 hours to visit; if you are one that reads every panel and views every exhibit, give yourself 1 1/2 to a 2 days to take it all in. My trip to Ottawa from Calgary had a primary focus on visiting the Canada War Museum and it made the trip well worth it!

Time well spent - great place to visit. - I have to admit that I knew next to nothing about the history of Canada and thanks to this museum I now appreciate the contribution of this great nation to world history - especially the WW2! Very interesting and organized museum - easy to navigate, many details to read if you are interested in a particular artifact or subject. The staff could be the best and most friendly I've ever met in a museum - always ready to help with a smile or...just smile and say "hi" Overall great place to visit on any day - not just when it rains!

A great history of Canada and war - The war museum is a very well presented history of the various wars that formed Canada and the two world wars that Canada played such an important role in. Starting with the warring Indian tribes, to the French arrival, the British arrival and the Britain/ French battles with Indian allies. And the war with America that established Canada separate from the US. The basement level with the cannons, artillery and tanks was interesting. Only complaint was with the lack of ckear signage re the entrance during current construction outside. So if you walk there signage is lacking

Simply worth a visit - This is one of the most interesting museums from how much thought has been put into everything. There is a reason and meaning to every element from architecture to design to placement of elements. Everyone we have taken here has left truly impressed.

Informative - We visited the museum on July 5. There is a parking lot under the museum (13$ for a day). This is a museum with a lot of text and artifacts. Don't expect big dioramas. We loved an employee's explanation of amputation in the 18th century.

Got half way round and it closed. - Got tickets for 3pm. The ones for 4pm weren’t available. Viator states this is a 3 hour tour. Got half way round then the place shut and we were abruptly ushered out of the building.
