Peter made this excellent! - Excellent driver! Peter went above and beyond….we needed some coffee before heading into Ostia Antica and our driver not only stopped for us to get some he paid for our coffees and some pastries what a treat! He was full of knowledge about Rome and the surrounding area and it was a pleasure learning from him. Do note that the driver doesn’t go into the park with you but you can rent on demand headsets that explain what you’re looking at. This site was far more than I expected - such remarkable preservation! And lunch by the sea was fantastic highly recommend!!! Thank you Peter!

Excellent experience! - We had an amazing experience! Alex was prompt and showed up with treats to start our journey. To visit Ostia has been a family dream. Alex was excited for us and his knowledge and expertise made each part of the trip memorable. The car was immaculate and we were riding in style. Alex picked us up early as he knew that there would be traffic and this enabled us to get there smoothly. The restaurant that was chosen was perfect and right on the water! Alex answered all of our questions with grace. Thank you Alex!

Amazing Private tour to Ostia - Alex Paolini was our fabulous driver! He was very good at communicating from before we were picked up all throughout the day! We wanted to go to Ostia which was a hidden gem! Holy cow! Pompeii is very famous however Ostia is larger and was created in 4BC. The mosaic were so beautiful. Alex coordinated everything for us. He knew Sunday would be busy so he arranged for us to go early. Then due to summer and restaurants being busy he made a reservation for us. We dined at a beautiful beachfront restaurant that had the most delicious food! The view was priceless view was priceless. Our family had a marvelous time and felt so well taken care of with Alex. Upon arrival he had delicious pastries for us. Plenty of Cold! Water and he escorted us and interpreted for us. He pays attention to the details for example he made sure our waiter spoke English. All these little things people forget about yet it make all the difference, thank you Alex for making our trip so special! Melanie

A day just outside of Rome! - Not only did we see Ostia Antica but Giuliano made sure we saw a related castle and basilica (a treasure), set us up with a great seafood lunch on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea and a second church and views of the Vatican from the Garden of Oranges. Nicely done!

Lovely day trip to Ostia Antica - Our day trip to Ostia Antica to view the ruins was a very comfortable, full day. Our driver, Giuliano, was excellent. He picked us up promptly in a very nice vehicle and drove us to Ostia Antica, pointing us toward the entrance. After about two and a half hours walking around the archaeological park, he met us at the gate and took us to the castle of Giulio II for a quick view of the castle grounds and a nearby church, then drove us to the beach for a short walk along the water. Giuliano had made lunch reservations for us at an excellent restaurant on the beach, where we had a tasty lunch. He then drove us back to Rome. He had been explaining various things we encountered to us throughout the drive in his excellent English, and, upon hearing us express an interest in local churches, he drove us to Santa Sabina on the Aventine hill, a very old church near a park filled with orange trees with an impressive view of the Tiber and the city below. He offered to bring us to another church, but it had been a full day, so he dropped us at our door. I would certainly ask for Giuliano again if I wanted to sightsee in Rome or its environs.

Ostia Antica - great trip. - Alex Paolini was a great guide for our trip to Ostia Antica. He made several suggestions to make our trip more enjoyable, including a restaurant reservation at a great restaurant on the seafront in Ostia. Alex provided water, and a breakfast “gift” to start the day. I would gladly book another trip with Alex.

Ancient Ruins Come to Life - Ostia Antica is truly special. It brings ancient Roman history alive and enabled us to envision daily life 2700 years ago. Alex Paolini was more than just our driver. On the way to and from Ostia Antica he explained the region, history and traditions. He was warm and friendly. He accommodated our special needs and took care of us on a rainy day. He drove us to the restaurant where he had made reservations for us, walked us in and arranged to be notified when we were ready for him to pick us up. His attentiveness made our day more enjoyable. I highly recommend this under the radar trip to Ostia Antica.

Etruscans Tour Conquers Jetlag - I would 100% take a tour with Alex Paolini again. We did a customization of the Etruscan tour. The company was right on the money with how long things would take. Alex was incredibly helpful, particularly for an older member of our party who had some mobility issues. Surprising us with pastries was just what we needed after an overnight flight. He also has lots of good tidbits about Italy and the history. Alex even went ahead into our hotel to find where we should check in and helped carry our bags.
Doing the tour straight front the airport was a great way to beat jetlag.
The Etruscan tombs are now in my top 5 travel experiences. If you have people on your trip who like to scrabble and climb, this is the place for them, with some other paths that are smoother.
I'm so glad we got off the beaten track and doing a private driver made everything so much easier.

Great trip to Ostia Antica - Great private tour to Ostia Antica! Claudio was a wonderful driver and took us to a wonderful seaside restaurant for lunch which was one of our favorite meals in Rome, despite having had delicious food all week. And Massimo was an amazing guide at Ostia Antica, and had us laughing the entire tour. We’re so glad we booked this trip!
