Excellent tour - The tour was amazing. We experienced both the history of Oslo, and also the local food culture. Food tastings of traditional Norwegian food were well organized and were tasteful (rich in taste). We enjoyed our food and drinks. The Guide was very knowledgeable and she had a sense of humour. This tour is highly recommended to anyone visiting Oslo, the capital city.

Experiencing places native Norwegians frequent - Being of Norwegian heritage I was excited to find a tour that focused on the foods of Norway. Little did I know that Tonya our guide was take us to such fun, out of the way places. The tour began with tasting at a wonderful Norwegian grocery store where we tasted fish, pork, lamb, cheese and lingonberries. We also learned about the meat salting process. This was followed by a lovely walk, with Tonya explaining the wonderful sites of Oslo along the way. Our next stop an electric coffee shop where we had shrimp on toast, amazing. When she found out I made lease she had one of the employees show me how they made lease in their shop. Again an area we would.not found without the guidance of Tonya. Our next stop was at Salmon where we were educated on the salmon production in Norway, followed by salmon tasting, best I have ever had. We next took a walk around the Marina again to an area we would have never found on our own. The tour ended with some amazing Norwegian Ice Cream. I can honestly say this is one of the best Trip Advisor Tours I have ever taken. If you get the opportunity, book this tour, it is not to be missed.

I totally recommend this tour - We had one of the best food tours for a long time. Our Tour Guide took us to a chocolate shop, fish restaurant, historical restaurant and a Norwegian market. We had tasted fish, meats, cheeses, bread, lefse etc. to try. We learnt a lot of local customs and eating habits. Our Guide was wonderful, funny, insightful, knowledgeable guide/storyteller, who made the entire experience even more fun. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone interested in food and culture. Thank you, Tanya Lisa!

Scandinavian food tour in Oslo - We got a great tour in Oslo city with 3 different tastings experiances of Norway. Even with limited posibilites of resturants and coffee shops that offer the option of smaller taste samples in Oslo. For us this was a perfect Food Tour able to see Centrum, inspiration of other places to come back to enjoy a full meal. The balance of walking and tastings was perfect to enjoy. The 4 hours passing quick as Tania Lisa even had more to show us. But we enjoyed our last tasting and stayed as a good ending of our tour with plans of a concert right after. With good service, possible to buy extra sample from one of the coffe shops could have been done if we wanted to taste some extra or as we liked for the last tasting some Wine. All the other planed tastings Tania Lisa took care of the bill as we had orderd a tour with tasting. Tanks to Tania Lisa our Romantic first Oslo visit with focus on Scandinavian food have been perfect left with a good memory, unique and a life experiance.

Walking tour (with food bonus) - The food we tasted on this tour was amazing - local dishes with quality ingredients. Our tour guide took us around the downtown area, pointing out important sites and making recommendations. She was very informative and had great communication leading up to the tour. Please note that the cost of the food is extra and not included in the posted price.

Check what you're getting - Our group is still confused about the price structure of this tour. We've done lots of food tours around the world and have never had a tour advertised as a food tour where the food was separate. As I paid online here at Tripadvisor, I saw that there would be an additional $55 for food; however, there was no option to pay the extra money. I called the "help" number, and they told me the food was included and if we wanted some specialty foods we could pay the fee on site. I then wrote the tour guide directly who told me to pay at the event. When we arrived, we were told it would be $60. I just still don't understand the pay structure of this tour and feel that Tripadvisor/Quality Tours should be explicit about the fee and what you get for that fee. We enjoyed the experience at the meat market and the man who talked to us about the Norwegian products and he gave us a plate of samples. The tastings we had thereafter all involved fish. The only dessert/sweet was a large candy bar she pulled from her bag. Some more variety would have been appreciated. The tour went on far beyond the scheduled time.

Not worth the money - This tour was both good and bad. The good part was that it combined 2 in one. You are walking in the city center for 3 hours and the guide is telling you not only about the food but about the city and its history. So, if you have limited time, you might use this option. Keep in mind that you will not be full after the tour and do NOT do this tour on Sundays, when all restaurants are closed. Our guide was mostly telling us on Sunday how the food tastes, with an option of coming back to the restaurant on our own tomorrow. We only had 3 stops with 3 little tastings of OK food, such as fish soup, 3 types(3 small cubes) of smoked salmon and the last stop was a plate with thin slices of cold cuts. The catch was that this was a fish market store with options to buy some "Delicacies" which are highly overpriced on top of the tour cost. I bought some small samples and walked out -$90. Not worth it. Keep your wallet shut for this store.
