Additional Information

Discover the majestic Oslo fjord and its islands like a local, hopping on and off ferries to hike the forests, sea cliffs, charming villages and historic sites of two-three islands (season-dependant). With a local guide, explore the fascinating ruins of a nearly 1000 year old abbey, picnic on a hidden beach (in October, a small stop with hot drinks will be provided) and walk the flower-covered paths of a village full of brightly painted, traditional wooden cabins. The backdrop for this tour is the stunning water views of Oslo and its surrounding hills, with picture opportunities around every unexpected corner. Don’t forget a swim suit and towel in the Summer months as there is time for a swim in the surprisingly warm waters of the Oslo fjord! Time for a picnic lunch is included and participants can either bring their own or purchase along the way (only available May-September). Good walking shoes or trail shoes are recommended as the hiking is done on dirt paths, gravel and stones.

Interesting worthwhile tour - John was an excellent guide with great information on the area and very engaging stories at every location. A comfortable tour with a moderate amount of walking and slight hills in each location. A great way to learn more about the area and see parts of Oslo that you would not see on a normal city tour.

Great day out - Great tour even though it was raining. Izzy and Neil did a great job at keeping us engaged. There are a few steep climbs but everyone was able to do it. As a bonus the pass used for the boats works for the next 24 hours on the buses and I think trains.

The best way to get to know Oslo - Neil and John were entertaining and knowledgeable guides, with John being an archaeologist of the monastery we visited on one of the islands. Neil also walked with us after the tour, to guide us to the railway station. We also did the bike tour with Niké which was equally as good. A key bonus is the all day ferry pass includes rail, tram and pass. Incredible value.
