Although the temple’s buildings have been rebuilt multiple times over the centuries, they have always been meticulously reconstructed to reflect the original 6th-century design. The outer temple grounds are free to enter, but there is a fee for the inner precinct, the Gokuraku-jodo Garden, and the treasure house. The inner precinct’s pebble-covered courtyard features a five-storied pagoda that can be entered and ascended, and the Main Hall (Kondo) enshrines Prince Shotoku as a statue of Kannon.
