In the Kintsugi Introduction Workshop (1 - 1.5 hours), participants will:
- Discover the history of traditional Kintsugi and lacquer
- Learn to embellish a Kintsugi plate with gold powder
- Create a personal Kintsugi plate using 23K gold powder
Upon completing the course, participants will gain an understanding of traditional Kintsugi and lacquer, and will receive their decorated plate within 5 to 7 days. For those interested in international shipping, it is available for a fee of 5000 yen. Domestic shipping within Japan is complimentary. We are excited to share the culture of Kintsugi.
The workshop is held in a traditional Japanese building known as a Kura. After the class, participants can explore the traditional wooden architecture and view Japanese art and antiques in our gallery.

The session will begin with an hour-long explanation of the history of kintsugi and lacquer. Following this, participants will have the chance to apply 23K gold powder, which is the final step in the traditional kintsugi process.
In this workshop, lacquer is utilized, and gold is sprinkled onto it. Consequently, the completed powdered plate will be available for collection 5-7 days later, or it can be shipped to your home for an additional fee. If you need to take the kintsugi plate home on the same day, please let us know in advance (even with substitute paint, it requires at least one day to harden or cure).
By the end of this workshop, participants will have gained knowledge about traditional kintsugi and the use of lacquer.
