Great Experience!! - This was such a great experience! Jo not only helped us make a Kintsugi piece, he taught us the history of Kintsugi, lacquer, variations, and origin. We drank matcha and perused his gallery. Our pieces arrived about 3 weeks later in the US- packaged very carefully and completely intact. 5 Stars! Also the ramen place across the street was delicious and the “Lion Head” shrine is right around the corner!!

A Beautiful and Meaningful Experience – Highly Recommended! - We had an amazing time during this kintsugi workshop! The artisan - Josuke - is passionate, welcoming, and truly generous in sharing both the technique and the deep philosophy behind this beautiful Japanese tradition. The process was meditative, inspiring, and accessible—even for beginners. We left not only with a repaired piece full of meaning, but also with a deeper appreciation for the art of embracing imperfections. We loved it so much that we even brought home our own kintsugi kit to keep the magic alive. Thank you for this unforgettable experience, Josuke! Adrien & Ieva

Amazing experience! - Zenkei is so knowledgable about all aspects of the kintsugi process from lacquer collection to curing to the mental and emotional benefits of the art technique. My sister and I had the best time and we were the only people taking the class at the time

Great workshop - I really enjoyed this workshop with Jo. Kintsugi is a process that has many steps with lots of time in between so we were only able to complete 2 of the steps. Jo did a great job of showing us the process of all of the other steps. I enjoyed his PowerPoint of his philosophy and the benefits of Kintsugi. We had matcha together at the end and Jo walked us to a nearby shrine. It was a great way to get a small taste of the kintsugi process.

I’m so glad I did this workshop - I’d highly recommend this workshop as an introduction to kintsugi but also if you have some experience and would like to hone your skills under the instruction of an expert. As traditional kintsugi project takes months to complete, it’s not possible to complete all the steps, although a practical taste for the earlier steps is included, it’s the later and more exciting step of applying the gold that you focus on. The studio space is beautiful and a lovely place to spend time and Jo is warm, funny and very knowledgeable about his craft. I’m so glad I did this

Learn an ancient art! - Great cultural experience learning traditional Japanese Kintsuji with Jo at Zenkei! Jo is a master artisan and wonderful instructor. He gave instruction on the history, materials, and techniques used in Kintsuji. His English was great along with his personality. After choosing which antique piece we would like to repair he helped guide us through proper application of the resin and gold. After, we were treated to delicious matcha and he demonstrated the proper way to prepare it. We also had an opportunity to explore the historic art studio (over 120 years old) and look at some of his own Kintsuji pieces on display for sale. Graciously Jo also offered to walk me to a very notable Temple nearby. This workshop is highly recommended!! Thank you Jo!

Enjoy our first Kintsugi experience - Joe, the owner of the gallery and workshop, is passionate about Kintsugi and we can feel it. It made the experience much more personal and meaningful. We learn about traditional way of making Kintsugi. The workshop is close to Namba shrine so it’s 2-in-1 trip. We also had our first matcha making experience with snack there.
