Fantastic experience with a relaxed atmosphere - This was such a fun experience for me and my friend. We found the place ok as Jo was waiting outside and then had a great time learning about all the different ways that kintsugi can be done along with the pros and cons of each way. Jo helped us with the final step of the process on our pieces (you can't do the whole thing as the prep work takes almost a month) and made sure he could get them to us at our hotel later in our trip. He showed us several pieces he is/has worked on. He also helped us make matcha and enjoyed a nice cup of tea chatting with us and gave us recommendations for restaurants nearby that met dietary restrictions. We had so much fun and learned a lot plus got an excellent dinner at his recommendation.

Wonderful workshop - This workshop was one of the highlights of our trip. We had a wonderful time learning from Josuke about the history and art of kintsugi and seeing all of the different steps (like the types of lacquer). It put in perspective the amount of hard work and time that go into making kintsugi, which gave us a better appreciation of the art form. We were each able to take home a piece of porcelain as a lasting memory as well.

Great experience! - Joe is an excellent teacher who is very patient. He is extremely passionate about kintsugi and it is clear during the session when he shares about its history and process. The workshop is in a beautiful building with age and character where there is also space for a gallery of his works. Highly-recommended!

Interesting workshop in a peaceful space - We had an amazing time with Joe, who created a peaceful space to teach us about Kintsugi. The part Joe left for us was not challenging so it’s something for all abilities to enjoy. We look forward to using our pieces at home. Joe showed us the local temple and was a great host. Thrilled with this workshop

A wonderful kintsugi experience! - This workshop was amazing! Jo is a very thoughtful and skilled instructor. His studio is in a gorgeous 100 year old building, and I got to learn all about Kintsugi and make my own cup. He had some tea and snacks to share and was kind enough to show me a nearby restaurant rec afterwards. Highly recommend this workshop! Don’t miss out.

A great afternoon learning the art of kintsugi - Spent a fun and informative afternoon with Jo, the kintsugi guru! Jo explained and demonstrated all aspects of kintsugi to us and helped us to create our own kintsugi to take home. Jo was very hospitable and kind - welcoming us into his 130 year old studio (wow!) and showing us a local shrine to finish up our time together. An afternoon well spent! Big thanks Jo 🙏
