Þorlákshöfn (Thorlak’s Harbour) you will ride west, towards the beautiful lava fields of Krýsuvík. Krýsuvík is also famous for its geothermal activity (not surprisingly in amongst all the lava), so you’ll see some white strokes of steam rising from the ground in the distance. You might also see some impressive views of both mountains and the sea.

You will also visit a small church, Strandakirkja, that’s well known in Iceland. This is a protestant church from the 12th century, with beautiful views towards the ocean, and you’ll be sure to see some impressive waves crashing on the cliffs nearby, especially on windy days. Close by is a small café where you, and the horses, can have a little rest and have some snacks. Then it’s time to return to base.

This tour is four hours long and only intended for experienced riders as it is of medium difficulty.

Enjoy a ride through beautiful Icelandic nature. Check availability by choosing a date.

Local immersion 🤍 - Magnus an amazing man, does not speak English but we managed to understand each other. Nice horse riding, very friendly person, not busy for him today so we did extra hour with the horses. We also spent 2h alone with 10 horses in their field which was amazing. It's not touristic at all so don't be in a rush, enjoy as a local not as a tourist. Great time and fun we had!

Fab little moss field trek - Lovely little 1hr ride through the moss fields today. Horses were comfortable, well cared for. Better than others we'd rejected... Located in an edge of town area by a mine but it was fine. Very helpful and amenable host. English not very strong but we understood. Plenty of opportunity for our children to ride unguided and quickly supported if they were nervous. Health and safety levels traditionally Icelandic but efficient. My 10yr old son now LOVES horseriding whereas he'd been afraid in the UK.

What an amazing day!!! - Wow!!! What an amazing day in the Iceland countryside!!! The owner is such a happy, fun man. We didn’t speak the same language but it didn’t matter. We loved him. He and his team of a great young man and his children made us feel right at home. They even invited us up for coffee and cookies and drove us back to our hotel in a neighboring town. My dad is turning 80 this year and this was the first time that he has ridden in 30-years. Today really meant a lot to all of us. THANK YOU!!
