Adam was attentive, social, and easy going but at times would speak to us in a tone suggestive of someone losing patience. My daughter, being excited, reeled her fish in very close to the rod tip twice and his reaction to it made her feel as though she had REALLY done something wrong. Another time, he became short with me for letting the hook set on a small shark because he was using a monofilament leader and the shark took the hook. We were on a shark boat that wasn’t equipped to land the sharks he said we’d be targeting. No braided line. No wire leaders. We caught a few sharks (2ft fork to tip) but only after I asked that we put one of the fish we caught to be put on the line as bait and he threw some dead bait fish over the side from the live well. We had a good time being out as a family and I believe a novice would be happy with the experience of catching a small shark but this was not the experience I was looking for. Not even a single edible fish caught by accident. While there’s never a bad day for fishing, we might have just had bad day catching them.
