Great day! - Incredible morning! Our guide was great, not only did we learn a lot about the magnificent musk ox and the broader ecosystem, we had a great time. We liked that the tour had a focus of respect for the Musk Ox, and would highly recommend it! Thanks again

Better hike with a guide. - Even though we are used to exploring nature by ourselves, we booked this guided tour and don’t regret. Hiking with a guide who knows the area and the behavior of the Musk Ox well increases the chances to see them. The area is just too large and the animals are moving around and so it’s easy to mistake some far away dark dots as rocks and miss them. We had a day with perfect weather conditions (the day before it was snowing up there) and we got to see several Musk Ox. First we saw to bulls resting and later on we saw an adult with two calfs (one from this year and one from last) and a group of 4 adults with a calf. Distances to the animals can be large, so make sure to bring good binoculars and a camera with a long tele lens with you. Besides this wearing waterproof hiking shoes is highly recommended as even the main trail can be quite wet. The hike itself is moderate. It starts with an uphill part through the forrest and continues less steep after leaving the tree zone. In total it’s only about 300 m difference in elevation. As it’s a natural track you want to watch your steps. Walking sticks are not necessary but might help if one needs some extra support. All in all it was a very good and interesting experience that’s almost a must have when being around Dovrefjell national park.

Safari - Great experience, got to see quite a few musk oxes and got a lot of new knowledge along the way, higly reccomend this trip! Very nice and helpful guide :)

Marvelous Musk ox tour - The tour was simply amazing, mainly because Erlend has been excellent in finding the right spots and providing wonderful photo-opportunities. And his wealth of knowledge about musk oxes (as well as other animals) made the tour an unforgettable experience.

Outstanding tour - top quality, and very respectful of the muskoxen - This is the tour operator of choice if you want to see and photograph muskoxen. The whole operation is managed professionally - from the moment you make initial contact via email, to the moment you are the in the field, to the moment you reach your hotel. Our guide, Erlend, was extremely flexible, understood our interests, and adjusted the times/locations of the tours to accommodate those interests. Something that is important to me is that the tour operators also respect wildlife, and the Oppdal Safari team does. They understand how to approach the muskoxen so they are comfortable with our presence, and they also know how to get closer without stressing the animals. All in all, a top operator and I would not hesitate to go with them again.

12 out of 5 Stars. Perfekt Trip - If it were possible we would give 12 out of 5 stars. our expectations were more than exceeded. The booking with prior advice via email worked great. The organization on site and the equipment provided were perfect. Our guide was very friendly, nice, helpful and explained and told a lot. He gave us a unique experience and looked after us very well. We were lucky and had perfect weather, saw the oxen often and up close and were able to take lots of great photos. We can highly recommend the trip.

Amazing one time in life experience - My safari experience was amazing!  My safari guide offers two options for the photo safari experience. Either a portrait safari where we would try to get closer to the Musk Ox or to see a group of Musk Ox for which we would need to stay a bit further. I picked the portrait option.  On our way to encounter the Musk Ox, we saw at the distance a reindeer passing by, which is a very difficult experience to have, so it was a nice plus even before the Musk Ox encounter.  We found a Musk Ox and we stayed around him at the distance without disturbing it and took countless photos and videos. Erlend (my guide) was kind and borrowed his 600x lens for me to have a better experience. My lens is a 300x. The weather conditions were very extreme, but Erlend was very aware that I could not have all the necessary gear to be under these conditions, so he borrowed me some warm clothes and it made everything just much easier. He also brought some coffee, tea, and snacks to share while enjoying the heavenly view.  Erlend also is a very knowledgeable guide who gave me a full overview of the Musk Ox's history, physical characteristics, behavior, and more. I want to add, that the contact service of the company is super responsive, they will give me all the info needed within hours, no matter if it is over the weekend.

Amazing Muskox Experience - The experience was so much fun, between the amazing views and the enjoyable hike up to the muskox, not to mention being able to see them so close and in such big numbers, there are so many reasons to take this trip. Morten especially is a funny and entertaining guide who knows a lot about the local wildlife and environment. Had a great time!
