Outstanding tour - top quality, and very respectful of the muskoxen - This is the tour operator of choice if you want to see and photograph muskoxen. The whole operation is managed professionally - from the moment you make initial contact via email, to the moment you are the in the field, to the moment you reach your hotel. Our guide, Erlend, was extremely flexible, understood our interests, and adjusted the times/locations of the tours to accommodate those interests. Something that is important to me is that the tour operators also respect wildlife, and the Oppdal Safari team does. They understand how to approach the muskoxen so they are comfortable with our presence, and they also know how to get closer without stressing the animals. All in all, a top operator and I would not hesitate to go with them again.

12 out of 5 Stars. Perfekt Trip - If it were possible we would give 12 out of 5 stars. our expectations were more than exceeded. The booking with prior advice via email worked great. The organization on site and the equipment provided were perfect. Our guide was very friendly, nice, helpful and explained and told a lot. He gave us a unique experience and looked after us very well. We were lucky and had perfect weather, saw the oxen often and up close and were able to take lots of great photos. We can highly recommend the trip.

Amazing one time in life experience - My safari experience was amazing!  My safari guide offers two options for the photo safari experience. Either a portrait safari where we would try to get closer to the Musk Ox or to see a group of Musk Ox for which we would need to stay a bit further. I picked the portrait option.  On our way to encounter the Musk Ox, we saw at the distance a reindeer passing by, which is a very difficult experience to have, so it was a nice plus even before the Musk Ox encounter.  We found a Musk Ox and we stayed around him at the distance without disturbing it and took countless photos and videos. Erlend (my guide) was kind and borrowed his 600x lens for me to have a better experience. My lens is a 300x. The weather conditions were very extreme, but Erlend was very aware that I could not have all the necessary gear to be under these conditions, so he borrowed me some warm clothes and it made everything just much easier. He also brought some coffee, tea, and snacks to share while enjoying the heavenly view.  Erlend also is a very knowledgeable guide who gave me a full overview of the Musk Ox's history, physical characteristics, behavior, and more. I want to add, that the contact service of the company is super responsive, they will give me all the info needed within hours, no matter if it is over the weekend.

Amazing Muskox Experience - The experience was so much fun, between the amazing views and the enjoyable hike up to the muskox, not to mention being able to see them so close and in such big numbers, there are so many reasons to take this trip. Morten especially is a funny and entertaining guide who knows a lot about the local wildlife and environment. Had a great time!

A wild day - Magic experience in a quiet white wild paradise. Our private guide was lovely and took the time to customize each moment. We were lucky to meet and see several musk ox and birds. I recomend it, and for sure I’ll do it again

A wonderful unforgettable day - Our guide Sigbjørn was a very friendly person, who knew a lot about the musk ox and all the nature in the norvegian mountains. It was an extremly interessting amazing day to visit with him the musk ox. We could go quite close, since he knew very well how to read the behavior of the ox. For lunch he surprised us with tea, coffee and very good cinnamon rolls. We enjoyed the day so much! Thank you for everything! Thorsten, Vreni and Tobias

Great experience at Dovrefjell Nasjonalpark - The musk ox safari was one of the highlights of our Norway round trip. After a short drive, we started the hike in the wonderful landscape of Dovrefjell Nasjonalpark. Our guide Sig quickly brought us close to a musk ox, which we could observe wonderfully through binoculars. Sig had a lot of information about the animals as well as about the national park in general and at the same time was open to questions. At the end we even got free coffee, tea and cinnamon buns! We can highly recommend the safari to anyone who is in the Oppdal region!

Wonderful experience not to be missed - We booked online when planning, from the UK, a trip to Norway, so not really knowing what to expect. The communication with the company was easy and clear. The group size was about 12. Our guide, Sig, was a local man who is a nature expert by training and experience. He was friendly and very happy to answer all our questions, and shared his knowledge about fauna, flora, and challenges of nature conservation in Norway. The stars of the day were of course the musk oxes. Sig spotted a group of 4 adults + a calf, not very far, so we walked through the low lying vegetation. We observed them from a safe distance as they were initially resting, then as they stood up and roamed around to graze. We could see them clearly and our guide had a telescope for us to use (and take photos from!). Then we walked through the hills to another ox. Beautiful scenery, with added effects of autumn colours. In practice, we started at 10am, plan for the whole day, walking easy but note to wear waterproof or sturdy shoes as there are boggy areas to cross through, bring food and drink though our guide offered coffee and tea and cinnamon buns :) It is expected that people use their car to get to the park but we were traveling by train so had no car and we were offered a lift with the guide, really appreciated, thanks. Overall, we whole heartedly recommend this experience. Thanks Sig for a wonderful day which has created great memories for us.
