Muscat-Wadi Bani Khalid-Wahiba Sands

Wadi Bani Khalid - Departing from Muscat, the journey leads to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s largest and most stunning wadis. Upon arrival, a brief 10-minute walk (comfortable walking shoes are recommended) reveals sparkling clear water pools, 9 meters deep, ideal for a refreshing swim or a relaxing sunbath amidst the picturesque Wadi Canyon.

Wahiba Sands - In the afternoon, the adventure continues to the desert, known as Wahiba Sands or Al Sharqiya Sands, covering an area of 12,500 square kilometers. This desert region, named after the Bani Wahiba tribe, spans the northern and southern governorates in the eastern region. It stretches 180 kilometers (110 miles) north to south and 80 kilometers (50 miles) east to west. Visitors can unwind at the camp or embark on an exciting 4x4 drive across the sand dunes, culminating in a breathtaking sunset view from one of the towering dunes, followed by a delightful dinner at the camp.

Wahiba Sands-Sur-Wadi Shab-Fins Beach-Sinkhole-Muscat

Sur - After breakfast at the camp, the journey proceeds from the desert to Sur. A brief city tour includes a visit to the renowned Omani Dhow Factory, where traditional wooden dhows are crafted, and a stroll through the historic part of Sur, characterized by houses with wooden doors and windows.

Wadi Shab - Continuing from Sur, the next destination is Wadi Shab, a vast canyon gorge adorned with palm trees and showcasing the natural power of mountain waters. A 35 to 40-minute hike through the canyon (walking shoes are recommended) leads to crystal-clear water pools, where visitors can swim through warm waters from pool to pool. The final pool features an opening among massive rocks, allowing a swim into a stunning crevice cave with a small waterfall, where sunlight transforms the water into a mesmerizing turquoise blue.

Fins Beach - From Wadi Shab, the journey pauses at Fins Beach, also known as White Sands Beach, offering a panorama of pristine white sands and a pebbly shoreline, with sparkling turquoise waters and a gentle, cool breeze.

Bimmah Sinkhole - The next stop is Bimmah Sinkhole, where swimming in the sinkhole lake is an option. This water-filled depression, a sinkhole in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate, features a turquoise lake measuring 50 by 70 meters and approximately 20 meters deep. Located 600 meters from the sea, between Dibab and Bimmah, the sinkhole was formed by the collapse of the surface layer due to limestone dissolution. To protect the sinkhole, a park has been developed by the local municipality.

From the sinkhole, the journey returns to Muscat.
