Our journey commences at the historical heart of Olinda, a charming city marked with colonial residences nestled amidst splendid palm trees, with the Atlantic jungle providing a stunning backdrop alongside the ocean.
Exploring further, we’ll discover streets paved with stone throughout the historic center of Olinda. The area is notable for its vibrantly colored houses, which are truly a feast for the eyes. There will be pause points at the São Bento Monastery and Basilica, which display the quintessence of Brazilian Baroque Art. Our journey will then take us to la Rúa do Amparo, artisan studios, artists around Largo da Misericórdia and Alto da Sé.
For our upcoming halt, we’ll acquaint ourselves with the famed giant dolls of Olinda, crafted by the celebrated giant doll artist, Silvio Botelho, who brings mirth during the Carnival season. Our exploration will then guide us to the district known as Recife Antigo, ending at Arsenal, the second most significant plaza in the neighbourhood, a hub for craftsmanship and historical edifices.
