Additional Information

We extend a heartfelt welcome to our home! You’ll instantly feel integrated into our family and customs. Our greeting ritual, just like the one my grandmother used to share with me, begins with hot chocolate and bread. I’m excited to share my experiences and the traditions of my heritage with you. The instructions can be given in both Spanish or English.

Our interactive session will happen in our splendid outdoor kitchen situated on our patio. You’ll gain practical experience in cooking and preparing food in the traditional Oaxaqueña kitchen commonly known as a ‘brasero’ - a traditional stove with an open fire, made from bricks.

You will actively participate in our cooking experience, learning how to concoct starters, traditional beverages, salsas, and main courses.

At the end of our session, we will sit together and enjoy the fruit of our labor - a shared meal around the table filled with food, drinks, stories, laughter, affection, and of course, mezcal.

We eagerly await to create lasting connections with you over our mutual passion for food and flavor which is one of the most enduring traditions of my culture.

  • Participants must be at least 8 years old.

Wonderful and engaging cooking class - Adhey and Enrique were delightful hosts, and engaged all four of us in the cooking process on their roof top kitchen. We were treated like family and shared a wonderful meal together as the result of our efforts. The wood-fired oven cook top was special, and we learned how to cook the largest chili relleno we had ever seen, and got introduced to the pineapple mango as well as the local favorite - Mezcal. The true highlight of our 7 day visit to Oaxaca.

Transportation was provided to their home, and we had a beautiful view as we cooked in the rooftop kitchen. We learned new foods and techniques, and shared a true Mexican family meal. Delightful time with lovely hosts - Adhey and Enrique made sure we had a delightful and delicious time. It began with comfortale transportation to their home. The view from the terrace, colorful decor, and hammock added to the ambiance. Our gracious hosts greeted us with chocolate and pan. We learned about and sampled a variety of fruits and then all participated in prepping the meal. We had fun learning how to cook chile relleno over the traditional wood stove and thoroughly enjoyed eating what we created. The evening was brought to a dleightful close when their young sons greeted us with cookies and a little surprise they had made.

Like visiting a friend’s house, amazing people and delicious food! - This was the best cooking experience I had in my travels! They are so welcoming, you instantly feel like you’re at friend’s house. It is truly hands on experience, we cooked everything from scratch with a good explanations, on real comal (remind me my grandma’s wood stove), I had a lot of fun while learning traditional Oaxacan cooking techniques. Absolutely recommend this class if you like to learn new things in very friendly environment and make a new friends!

Una riqueza de cultura y Diversión ! - The energy that this family brought was absolutely invigorating. They were so much fun with tons of personality, they made us feel right at home. The introduction to so many foods and fruits was an incredible experience. The rooftop area with the brasero that we cooked over was also so much fun. Fun to dance and stoke the fire and cook all in one! Best meal in Oaxaca, and Oaxaca is the food capital of Mexico! It truly is something so special to share the roots of Oaxacan culture in a Oaxacan household, something you cannot get eating out in the city. Couldn’t recommend this experience enough!!!

Authentic cooking experience - Chef Andrade's cooking class is a must when you visit Oaxaca. It is authentic food and you learn the traditional methods. You participate to make all the delicious dishes. You learn all the veggies and different chilies that roast on the comal and then are grinded by hand in the mocajete to add to the dishes to make deliicous flavors. But the best is learning to make the fluffy chile relleno at the end. I have made now twice at home to rave reviews. All the dishes were easy to make when I got home. It was a wonderful heart warming experience in a beautiful rooftop setting. The cooking on her comal is the best! Her husband Enrique picks you up and delivers you back. He also is the photographer. Super sweet couple delivering an interesting and rewarding experience!

The highlight of our holliday! - Me and my daughter (17) had the most marvellous time with Adhey and Enrique. I can for sure say we now have new friends in Oaxaca. Together we prepared a fantastic meal with fresh local produce on a wood fired brasseri. We learned a lot, had a lot of laughs and shared the love only a good meal with good people can provide. I would highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Oaxaca, even if you dont like too cook. This Experiences is a lot more than just a cooking class, it is an experience of a lifetime.

Memorable - I didn’t know what to expect, as I did not do much research, and must say I was blown away. What a fun class. Adhey and her team were remarkable. We were picked up and driven to her home where we were graciously met with a warm hug. We made our way up the stairway to the terrace and discovered a lovely open kitchen awaiting us. Everything was fresh and of course tasted magnificent. She knows so much about cooking, and was eager to teach us some great tips to try at home. If you want a unique, lively class, I would strongly suggest taking this. And to top it off, you’ll have an unbelievably delicious meal.
