Highlights
  • Santa Maria del Tule - The first stop on our tour is a brief but very interesting stop to get to know the famous Tule Tree, the widest tree in the world.

Optional Entrance Not Included ($20MXN)

  • Teotitlan del Valle - In our second stop, we visit Teotitlan del Valle, in a family workshop where this community is famous for the natural dyes that are made from roots, flowers and insects, the most important being the Red color of the cochineal grana.
Our Guide together with the artisan will give us a demonstration of the process, dyes and products made from sheep’s wool.
  • Zona Arqueologica de Mitla - We will also visit the second most important archaeological zone in Oaxaca, MITLA, unique in its kind due to the fine fretwork that decorates its palaces. Our guide will share the history of the place along with his passion for the site. We will have a guided tour and free time to explore the site as well as the nearby craft market

Entrance to Archaeological Zone Not Included 90 MXN

  • Restaurante / Hotel Donaji - During the tour we will also make a stop to eat between 1-2 pm.
It is a buffet restaurant with Oaxacan food, the recommendation is to have a light breakfast to be able to take advantage of the buffet
Buffet has been chosen since the food is ready to eat and due to the size and needs of a shared group it is the most practical
Also on occasions there are options of dishes or menu (subject to availability in the restaurant, high season)
If this is not an option, you can also bring lunch

Buffet Not Included $180 MXN

  • Hierve el Agua - One of the best stops on the tour, but also the furthest away, you will see the beautiful Hierve el Agua waterfalls.
In this place there is free time (2hrs) to explore, swim or take photos of the landscapes of mountains and rock formations, you decide.

TICKET NOT INCLUDED 70MXN

  • El Rey de Matatlan - The best part of the tour for our visitors, we will visit an artisan mezcal factory, we will know the mezcal process briefly and we will try more than 40 different flavors

Your guide and the driver were knowledgeable - Very good day trip from Oaxaca. They picked us up right from our doorstep but upon returning, they dropped us 15 minutes walk away.

An excellent tour - I highly recommend it. - Amado was an excellent driver, was highly competent and honest. It was a great tour - everything advertised was included with a perfect amount of time allocated to each stop on the tour. It was a long day - 12 or 13 hours - and it was worth every minute. I definitely recommend this tour.

Seamlessly outstanding from beginning to end - My partner and I are backpackers and we could not recommend this company enough. From the two gentlemen at the desk, to the tour guide, to the bus driver, everyone was so friendly and had a clear passion about what they do. We did the full day tour and couldn't believe the value for money in relation to other tours within the area. The guides information about the palace in Mitla was the standout for us (his English was also fantastic!). Thank you for having us Lescas Co Tours!

Full day trip - nature, history, ruins, mezcal - The tour guide was excellent. Really knowledgeable and brought the destinations to life. Mitla and Hierve el Agua are must sees. We would have loved to know the end time of the tour. Didn't arrive back until 730pm.

Overall satisfactory tour - good mix of Nature and History - First half of the tour was great - the guide was knowledgeable and eager to help, answer all the questions I had and also spoke pretty good English. We saw the Tule tree and visited Mitla archaeological ruins, followed by the handicrafts demonstration which was impressive and then the Mezcal tasting which was fun. However the second half became a little unorganised as the tour guide had to escort back one of the tourists, leaving the rest of the group at mercy of the Spanish speaking driver and a local guide. We had to hike to the dried up limestone waterfalls which was anyway tricky because of the high temperature and with the local guide who wouldn't explain anything in English, navigating the terrain was difficult. Rest, it was a satisfactory tour.

Wouldn't recommend - Wouldn't recommend. Organisation not great as meeting point unclear and despite arriving early my partner and I were separated on the very cramped minibus and in the worst seats with no chance to sit together over the course of a very long day. The tour tries to fit in too much and some stops are too long e.g. lunch, Tule tree and Hierve el Agua. Didn't get to mezcal tasting til after 6 by which point most just wanted to get back. Lunch buffet was also very poor quality. I'd suggest doing a shorter tour to make it more enjoyable. The tour guide himself was very good though but was only around for just over half the day.

Never again - This has been the worst experience. The company did not inform the tour guide about what my package included. I had to be following and reminding him. The visits to the sites were self-guided as we were just dropped off with minimal or nonexistent explanation of the place or how to navigate. I was charged $78 USD, and others only paid $200 or $300 pesos. Big difference. A complete disappointment.
