Julio Brought Oaxaca (and the Walking Dead) to Life! - I took the 5-hour Walking Dead walking tour in Oaxaca, and it completely exceeded my expectations — mostly thanks to our amazing guide, Julio. From the very beginning, Julio’s energy and storytelling drew everyone in. He blended the eerie, post-apocalyptic vibe of The Walking Dead with the rich history and colorful streets of Oaxaca in such a creative way. It wasn’t just a fan tour — it was like stepping into an alternate version of the city where culture, folklore, and TV magic met. Julio was incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the show but also about local landmarks, Oaxacan traditions, and even some fun behind-the-scenes facts about how certain scenes could have played out if they were filmed here. He kept the group laughing, engaged, and moving at a comfortable pace. He also went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a great time — offering photo stops, sharing great local snack tips, and pointing out hidden gems along the way. If you’re a Walking Dead fan (or just someone who loves unique, creative tours), this experience is a must-do in Oaxaca. Julio truly made it unforgettable — funny, spooky, and full of local charm.

Awesome Day of the Dead tour. - Josué was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. He helped us meet families in the cemetery. The tour was on time and hit everything advertised. He even explained some of the parts of the parade. Great tour!

A great way to learn about Dia de los Muertos - We had an excellent time with Pablo, he was knowledgeable and friendly and funny. He treated the vendors we interacted with kindly and we were able to get great samples of everything we wanted to try. Would highly recommend.

Great way to learn about the festivities - Our guide, Joseline, was absolutely fantastic — friendly, knowledgeable, and so entertaining. She brought the traditions and meanings behind Día de los Muertos to life, sharing stories and insights that made us appreciate the celebration on a much deeper level. The tour was perfectly paced, giving us time to explore altars, parades, and local festivities without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere was vibrant and unforgettable — full of color, music, and emotion. Highly recommend this tour if you want to truly experience the spirit and culture of Oaxaca during this magical time! 💀🌼🎶

Do not recommend - This was overpriced for what it was. We walked around a neighborhood, went to a closed market, went to the cemetery and were supposed to “look around on our own”, walked more, then went to dinner. I definitely would not recommend this tour. I had already seen or could have seen these things in my own, I did not gain any additional knowledge about Day of the Dead or Oaxaca. A fellow traveler on the tour said that they were extremely disappointed and couldn’t believe how much money we had paid for so little. That kinda sums it up…. This was NOT the fault of the guide (they were great) like I said there was just zero learned or added to my experience in Oaxaca…

Meh - The whole experience was just ok. For the price I expected a lot more info about the traditions of day of the dead. Some things were mentioned but not as in depth as it could have been. Actually, there was another group whose guide sounded like they were a wealth of knowledge and we just didn't get that. The market visit could also have been better. We visited one vendor and the other where we were supposed to try Oaxacan cheese from was closed. Albeit, not much can be done about that but we also started the tour 40 minutes late so Im not sure if that had something to do with it. Our guide also walked way too fast. We had an older couple with us that had a hard time keeping up and with all the foot traffic we just kept losing people to the crowd. The cemetery visit was extremely brief because we got there 15 minutes before it was set to close. We didn't get any info on that either. We just went in and walked around. The dinner spot was good, 7/10. The night ended abruptly after ditching a comparsa by darting into a bar. Overall just ok for the price. Walked away feeling like we could have done without.

Run Away and Do not Look Back - Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience on this Day of Dead tour. We are on vacation, initially, I did not mind waiting for our tour guide for 30 minutes, however we did mind that all we did was walk for 5 hours and nothing was explained to us regarding Day of the Dead. This is a tour I could have done on my own and would have gotten more out of it. We were excited about this tour, however it was a HUGE disappointment!! Run away from this tour!
