Local market tour - Our tour guide Elizabeth was superb. She provided great historical insight, provided authentic food tasting, tetaye, mezcal, Oaxaca quesillo and ended w/local desserts. Everything was great, this tour is worth it!

Excellent tour! Much more than just food tasting! - We did this tour to get an introduction to Oaxacan food and a roadmap to navigate the markets. We got all that and more! Elizabeth was an excellent guide! She's from Oaxaca and very knowledgeable about the food, customs and history of the area. I am a chef, and I was amazed at the different flavors I was introduced to at the market! From fresh quesillo to the carne asadas and the chapulines, everything was delicious and a new, exciting culinary experience. And, we learned a lot about the history, ingredients and cultural significance behind these foods at the same time. We are so glad we went on this tour! Highly recommend, especially if it's your first day in Oaxaca!

Elizabeth was a great... - Elizabeth was a great tour guide! We learned a lot about Oaxacan history, culture, and food. After taking the tour we felt very comfortable ordering and shopping for food and drinks at the markets by ourselves. Highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful and informative tour by Elizabeth - Elizabeth did a great job showing us both of the major Oaxaca markets - Benito Juarez and 20 de Noviembre. She was very warm and friendly and answered all our questions. We sampled so many local drinks, moles, empanadas, mezcals, cheeses, grilled meats, stuffed peppers and cookies. It was really a great sampling of Oaxacan foods. No need for dinner after this tour.

Come as strangers, leave full and with friends! - This was such a value for the experience. Elizabeth is wonderful. She was well prepared with a binder and went over the history of Oaxaca and the foods we experienced. She was extremely thoughtful and asked before we tried anything if we wanted a sample. I was with a group of women, all solo travelers and left as friends. The lunch at the end is delicious. I ended up buying mole to take home. Extremely pleasant way to get acclimated to Oaxaca for a beginner or if you just want to experience food with a history twist!

Many tastings - The tour itself was great! Alicia was wonderful, explained things well. Tried cheeses, chocolate, mole paste, chorizo, grass hoppers and more. The market was crowded so best to go with a guide. One issue- the starting point was far from the market. Suggest a closer meeting place

Not bad but not great - This wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t great, a bigger tour of the markets would have been good and more food would have been better. When I went some of the stalls were closed and the last meal at the end didn’t quite hit the level of food that I had experiences else where in Oaxaca. I think for the price of this tour it should never been better.

Average Market Tour - The tour guide was pleasant and the food we ate tasted good, however we found it a little odd that we booked a Food Market tour and the guide is asking us what we’d like to choose rather than helping us discover new things. We were expecting to be more guided considering the price of the tour and the inexpensive options that were available at the market. Some parts of the tour were free samples and when we asked to try something else, it was suggested we share with others on the tour since it was a large dish. Overall, nice to meet a local but we didn’t learn much or get our moneys worth.
