Highlights
  • The LineUp at Wai Kai - From the mountains of Tahiti to the rivers of Hawaii nei, water has connected and sustained its people for thousands of years. The Wai Kai Show will take you across our great ocean, sharing stories of ancient and modern times. Join us as we surf through the rich history and cultural legacy left by the kupuna (ancestors) who navigated across the South Pacific seas.

Gather on the lanai at The LookOut restaurant where the viewing decks that surround the Wai Kai Wave become your theatre to watch the dancers, musicians and surfers perform. This is the first show ever to incorporate live surfing by using the 100-foot wide Wai Kai Wave in the performance - the perfect way to learn about the history of Heʻe Nalu (ocean wave riding) and Heʻe Puʻe Wai (river wave surfing).

Extraordinary! - Extraordinary! So much more than I expected. The facility is remarkable - surfing right in front of the audience. Amazing surfer displays, great dancers and performers. Worth the drive.

An inspiring and spectacular triumph that breaks the mold of lū'au! - Saying this lū'au is "special" is an understatement. Went twice in three weeks. It's that good. Great for families, friends, or entertaining business clients. Where else can you get world-class Polynesian dancing AND a front-row seat surfing exhibition? Food and bar are great local inspired fare. The facility itself is a striking brand new structure that is a surprising departure from typical lū'au venues; and the show utilizes the unique theater to the max, making this show a truly one-of-a-kind experience. It's intimate right now, so watch it soon and enjoy the ample parking and warm interactions with the performers before the inevitable inundation of tourists take over. When the typical lū'au template tends to employ camp and exotica, the Wai Kai Show uses splendor and reverence. Locals, kanakas, and connoisseurs will notice that culture is celebrated more than put on display. This is not a revue of Oceanic cultures, it is a coherent inter-island story told with a lot of traditional dance and a few surprising cutting edge stagecraft elements that put this show on the same tier as Hā: Breathe of Life on the North Shore. Dining is full table service. You won't have to line up at a buffet because the wait staff brings the food and drink to your table made to order. The Hawaiian inspired menu matched the level of the show and left us happily full. We enjoyed the innovative tacos, fresh seafood, and a few juicy ribeyes paired with okinawan sweet potatoes. This focus means that guests expecting a full spread of authentic Hawaiian may not find their poi (at the time of writing). What makes this show stand apart aside from the aforementioned, is the fact that the venue has a world-class wave pool. Without giving away the exhilarating moments the show surprises you with, I can say that the entire layout of the venue is integrated into the show. Sometimes the performers use dance to tell this oceanic story, and other times they are showing that they are actual watermen (and women), doing real things in the water as part of the performance. We brought international clients for our first visit and enjoyed it so much that we came back with the entire household. I will be telling all my visiting friends that this is the show to put on their itinerary until someone else can top it, if that's even possible. Māuruuru!

Best luau experience we've ever had! - A must see for visitors AND Kama'aina! The show, music, and dancers led us through a beautiful and authentic cultural experience through Polynesia. It was absolutely amazing watching them interact within the waves as the sun set in the sky. Food and drinks were also delicious. They had an extensive menu but we dove into their fresh Kava and Mai Tais, ono fish, and juicy steak! The desserts were also🤌🏽. All that at such a great price... Highly recommend!

Spectacular! - We came for the Wai Kai dinner show and it was spectacular. The performances were entertaining, electrifying and enchanting. The live music accompanied with the Tahitian drums brought chills down the spine. The dinner was incredible and not your typical luau food. It was an elevated culinary experience. Will definitely spread the word and recommend to others This review is looking pretty epic! Nice!
