Wonderful Day! - The day was beautiful and the tour to the Arizona memorial was very moving. We enjoyed the film and the displays back at the park. We felt like we learned a lot about the events leading up to December 7, 1941, and the ramifications that followed. The tour of the U.S.S. Missouri was also informative and interesting. Our tour guide with Viator was great and took good care of us. It was wonderful to leave the planning and driving to someone else!

A reminder of War…A plea for Peace - One of the famous sights on O’ahu is the Memorial to the men who died on the Battleship Arizona. Sitting astride the sunken tomb, this white memorial is a fitting reminder of War and the loss of young lives.. A boat ride operated by seamen and women of today’s Navy glides across the harbour and leaves you to walk with your thoughts to see the rusting ship beneath the water and the names of all who died on that fateful day - 7 December 1941, so long remembered in the words of President Roosevelt as “the day of infamy’. Oil and the Ship’s fuel still oozes and slicks the water even today. It is a must do. Normally there is a short film prior to the visit to the memorial. It is a fantastic piece to set the scene of why and how this tragedy occurred. There are other parts of this Museum of the Pacific, but none so moving or so poignant as the Arizona Memorial.
