Interesting to go into Honolulu Chinatown.... - Interesting to go into Honolulu Chinatown.... I am not saying that we loved all the food, because to us that is the beauty of a food tour in that you get to try stuff that you might not purchase. TJ was great! He was informative and just a cool guy. It was touching to see him interact with a homeless guy to give him some of our leftovers. Highly recommend the tour even if you are squeamish about different foods. It is very interesting....

Amazing tour! - This tour was amazing! Victor was very knowledgeable about the food we tasted and very attentive to all of us. We tasted so many varieties of food and ended up having enough for 2 more meals! Highly recommended, and take bags with you to bring some food home.

Excellent food tour of Honolulu Chinatown - we tried 19 different items! - I highly recommend this food tour of Honolulu's Chinatown. Our tour guide TJ was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to share his recommendations for restaurants and activities all over the island. Ellis, one of the co-owners, was also on the tour with us, assisting TJ and he was super helpful despite having just come off a night shift and battling a large forest fire on the other side of the island until 5:30am (he's also a firefighter). Having grown up in Honolulu, and visited Chinatown many times, this tour took me to places I had never been, and I did try a couple things I'd never eaten such as durian (I had never had the courage to try it, and now I don't have to ever try it again!) Our two young adult children were very excited to go on this food tour and learn more about the history of Honolulu's Chinatown in the process. While the price is high per person, what we got in terms of quality and volume of food was significant and we brought a LOT of food back (bring a carry bag to make transporting all these leftovers easier). Our food tour included the following food items: - baked char siu manapua (an entire one) - baked kalua pig manapua (an entire one) - pork adobo (small container for every two people) - balut (fertilized egg, one per person if you're brave enough to try) - fried banana lumpia - soursop wedges - papaya wedges - mango slices - dragon eyes (longan) - rambutan (similar to lychee) - durian (frozen so not as stinky as it would be otherwise) - ahi tuna (8 generous slices for every two people) - spicy tuna (small container for every two people) - octopus (8 pieces or so for every two people) - deep fried pork rind (chicharron) - deep fried roast pork chunks (generous portions) - BBQ roast pork (generous portions) sadly, roast duck lady was on vacation so no duck for us - pandan cake - Hawaiian seasoned poke (ahi tuna) plus unlimited water and Hawaiian sun fruit drinks. So in all, we tried 19 items and left with six small containers of poke and pork adobo, three manapua, a container of roasted meats, and a couple of waters. It was really nice to support a locally owned and operated business with tour guides who are local and know the area well. Highly recommend!

fun morning - Had a great morning. TJ (guide) certainly seemed to know his food, the selected locations, and the value of locally owned sites. "Off the beaten" track is right, we visited places that we would never have done, without participating in the tour. There was too much food to try, so be careful but TJ did warn us.

Family Food Tour - This review is long overdue. We went on the off the beaten path tour of Chinatown with Victor during our summer vacation. Our family included grandparents and my 2 teens (12yo daughter and 14yo son). We went on this tour at the beginning of our vacation to get some great recommendations on area vendors and food. It was lots of great food, and we had leftovers to take home. Those leftovers didn’t last long! Victor was kind enough to bring a cooler for us to use for the food. We sampled many familiar foods and some new foods as well: lumpia, sushi (great high quality fish), roasted duck/pork, and even fertilized duck egg. Victor was very good about offering up foods and taking requests. You don’t have to eat anything you don’t feel comfortable with. My husband loves trying new unique foods. I am less adventurous and enjoy eating flavorful foods. We both found foods we would love to try again. It was a great tour into Old Chinatown and the history of Honolulu through food. Everyone in the family enjoyed the tour and felt it was one of the favorite things we did while on vacation (even more than swimming with sharks and surfing)! I recommend this tour to anyone who loves food adventure and loves to eat. You will not be disappointed! The walking was not difficult and even helpful to burn off some calories to see some of the sights around Chinatown.

A must do tour - All the food was absolutely delicious! It was nice to try local cuisine that I would not have had the opportunity to try if I had not gone on this tour. Our tour guide. Victor was amazing. Not only knowledgeable about what we were tasting but about the local area and history. This is a must detour for anyone visiting Hawaii. Be ready to have delicious food and an absolute great time. I’ve been on tour all over the world, and this was my number one tour.
