- Ala Wai Canal - The Ala Wai Canal is an artificial waterway in Honolulu, Hawaii which serves as the northern boundary of the tourist district of Waikiki. It was created in 1928 to drain the rice paddies and swamps which would eventually become Waikiki. It also serves as a primary drainage corridor for the rivers and streams that run through central and east Honolulu.
The canal runs from just northwest of Kapahulu Avenue along the length of Waikiki, then turns southwest to empty into the Pacific Ocean. Bridges cross the canal at McCully Street, Kalākaua Avenue, and Ala Moana Boulevard. Ala Wai Boulevard runs parallel to the west side of the canal in Waikiki.

Hiking at the Diamond Head Crater Volcano is the second most popular tourist attraction in Hawaii, surpassed only by Pearl Harbor in visitor numbers. Its popularity isn’t without reason - the sights over Waikiki and the southern tip of Oahu are unrivalled. We offer two tour packages to explore this terrific natural wonder. This package is designed to be economic and flexible, fitting neatly into your morning or afternoon plans, since it only takes between 3 and 3.5 hours from hotel pickup to drop-off. We journey along the renowned Waikiki Strip with two short, 15-minute stopovers before reaching the crater to initiate your 2-hour unguided hike to the peak. The first halt is at the iconic Duke Kahanamoku Statue, and the second offers stunning views from the top local surfing spot at the island’s south end - Diamond Head Lookout and Beach. On clear days, up to four other islands can be seen. Your hike commences approximately 45 mins after we pick you up from your hotel, and lasts for 2 hours, after which we drop you back at your hotel.
