Bunaken is a small island encompassing 8.08 km², situated in the Manado Bay to the north of Sulawesi, Indonesia. It falls under the jurisdiction of Manado, the capital city of the North Sulawesi province. One can reach Bunaken Island via speedboat or hired boat from the Manado city port, a journey that typically takes around 30 minutes. Surrounding the island is the Bunaken marine park, a segment of the Bunaken National Park which is celebrated for possessing some of the world’s richest marine biodiversity. This attracts a great number of scuba diving enthusiasts to the island. The Bunaken marine park collectively spans 75,265 hectares and comprises five islands: Manado Tua Island (Manarauw), Bunaken Island, Siladen Island, Mantehage Island along with several minor islands, and Naen Island.
