Highlights
  • D-Day Beaches (Plages du Debarquement de la Bataille de Normandie) - Your private tour guide will take your private group up for a full day of World War II history, with an emphasis on the American soldiers who fought to protect the Allies and their people.
You will visit important sites such as the ones that follow.
  • Pointe du Hoc - Start your visit with your private guide by Pointe du Hoc, where American troops landed on D-Day. This is one of the most significant World War II sites, and unlike many other Normandy landmarks, Pointe du Hoc is largely untouched, making this an emotional and powerful place to begin the private tour.

Your expert guide will take you through the history and significance of what happened here on June 6, 1944, as American troops scaled the cliffs (the highest point in the region) to take back control from German troops who had built 6 casemates to house a battery of 155 mm guns.

Stand before this site, situated Utah Beach and Omaha Beach, and reflect on the heroic struggle of the American Second Ranger Battalion under the command of Lt. Col. James E. Rudder. Ultimately, many American soldiers sacrificed their lives in order to protect fellow troops from German counterattacks.

  • Omaha Beach - Leaving Pointe duc Hoc, continue on a drive for a visit to Omaha Beach, the site of one of the most significant events of World War II.

Stand on the sands where 2,400 American soldiers lost their lives on D-Day in an effort to secure a beachhead spanning some 5 miles between Port en Bessin and the Vire River, linking up with the British landings at Gold Beach and the Americans at Utah Beach.

Your guide will take you through this history of Omaha Beach before leaving you with free time to reflect and pay your respects to those who fought against the German 352nd Infantry Division.

When you are ready, a provided lunch will be served before heading to the American Cemetery.

  • Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer - After lunch your journey continues with an extensive visit to the 172.5-acre American Cemetery of Colleville, the resting place of some 9,387 military, most of whom lost their lives in the D-Day landings.

Here, take your time visiting the graves, the Memorial, the Wall of the Missing, and the chapel.

Your visit will be followed with a stop at the beautifully designed American Interpretive Center, where you will have the opportunity to watch remarkable short films and documentaries relating the events of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy operations.

  • Arromanches-les-Bains - Leaving the American Cemetery, you’ll sit back and relax on a drive to the Arromanches with its vestiges of the artificial harbor (Mulberry Bridge), Longues-sur-Mer and the German artillery battery, which gave the allies a pounding on the morning of June 6.

It is actually the only coastal battery to have kept its guns, giving an impressive picture of what an Atlantic wall gun emplacement was really like.

At the end of your day you will be given free time to explore the Caen Peace Memorial, a place for contemplating war in general and why it is important not to forget the legacy of the Second World War.

Amazing tour not to be missed! - Our guide Fabrice was a wealth of knowledge and passion and we loved spending our day with him. Standing on Omaha beach at low tide was a very emotional experience looking back at the cliffs as was the American cemetery.

Excellent Lesson in History and perfect experience - We had an excellent experience. Bertrand was our guide. His knowledge and hospitality are excellent. He was prompt, and flexible. He encouraged our input and customized our day according to our preferences. When we told him that our cousin was buried in the Normandy cemetery, he made a special effort to take us there and got a guide to take us directly to the grave where we held a small ceremony. It was priceless to us. Bertrand gave us a thorough history of the Battle of Normandy. He chose a lovely restaurant for lunch and we enjoyed, not only his knowledge, but his kindness and friendship. We highly recommend this excursion and Bertrand in particular.

This tour and our guide Julien was AMAZING! - Julien was our tour guide, and he was AMAZING! We enjoyed spending all day with him! He is a wealth of knowledge of Normandy and D-Day, as well as France in general. He was patient, kind, and easy to talk to. We learned not only about WW2 and D-Day, but French culture, the language, and so many other areas. Julien was also very helpful when we asked him questions about our travels around France. I highly recommend this tour and Julien. It was worth every Euro we spent :)

Excellent Tour - I can’t recommend this tour enough. My mom and I highly enjoyed our tour given by Julian who was incredibly knowledgeable, fun, and passionate about teaching. We learned so much in just one day about Normandy, WWII, D-Day, and French culture. Julian arrived promptly at 0700 to pick us up from our AirBnB and even dropped us off at a restaurant where we had dinner reservations at 1930. Spent time at Utah and Omaha beaches as well as many other historical spots throughout the day. For lunch, Julian took us to a fantastic restaurant where we had cider and savory crepes that were absolutely delicious. Julian timed the day perfectly which allowed us to witness Taps at the Normandy American Cemetery. This truly is a must-see tour!
