- 41 Chiwari-72 Kawashiri - Commencing in late February, Nishiwaga Town will witness a natural event known as heavy snow. This event is characterized by snow that softens in the daytime heat, then freezes overnight due to the drop in temperature from radiative cooling, creating a solid surface that can be traversed until dawn breaks. This magical two-hour window in the early hours of spring is reminiscent of the enchanting world depicted in Kenji Miyazawa’s fairy tale, “Yukiwari”.
