- 66XPWF67+7XV - Learn to cook alongside a passionate Tico. Jorge is a Tico born in Samara, who has been cooking since he was little. He first learned to cook rice, the most popular food in Costa Rica, from his family. And then, he helped his mother cut the vegetables, taste the dishes, balance the spices and aromatics. Here, the majority of men know how to cook. In the school curriculum, a few hours are devoted to cooking. Empanadas, plátanos, picadillo de gallo, frijoles molidos, tamales. Vegetarian or not, you are welcome for this experience. It’s a 3-hour course with the preparation of a dish and a juice that’s a little out of the ordinary. Group or private lessons, at home or with our chef, vegetarian or not. Do not hesitate to ask us for more information. The course includes: 3 hours with the chef to learn, cook, practice. In French, English or Spanish. Tasting of the products made that day where you can also take them home.

Great experience - This was a great educational experience where we learned how to cook some authentic food, but also had the opportunity to learn more about their culture in the area as well. It was a good overall experience.
We do highly recommend him.

Cooking with Jorge and Jose - We booked the Guided Cooking Class with Jorge and Jose for a Costa Rican cooking experience, and it was such fun from start to finish. They arrived with all the ingredients and supplies needed, making the entire process seamless and stress-free. Jorge and Jose guided us through the preparing and cooking of several delicious Costa Rican dishes, sharing recipes and cultural highlights during the cooking process. One of the highlights was learning how to make a special Costa Rican drink, Cacique Guaro, a unique and flavorful addition that made the evening even more memorable.
Their joy and professionalism for Costa Rican cuisine made the experience not only educational but incredibly fun. We laughed, learned, and enjoyed every bite together. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a hands-on, authentic culinary adventure. And they did the dishes!

When in Samara, cook with Jorge. - We had a great time. You can tell Jorge loves to share his passion for cooking and Costa Rica. We prepared a few unique dishes. I can’t wait to try these at home.

Delicious and educational! - We had an amazing time with Jorge. He was thoughtful and intentional about teaching us and accommodated our food preferences. We learned about Costa Rican food and cooking - but also about the rich culture and history of the country and Guanacaste province. The amazing food we cooked was icing on the cake! Thanks to this wonderful teacher and host.

amazing food and a great time - I had a great time in the kitchen with Jorge. He explained everything so thoroughly and with instruction. The food was delicious and I learned new dishes to try at home. Fully recommend booking!!

So fun! Loved it - We had Jorge come to our villa for a cooking class on the morning of my birthday. He was punctual, well-prepared and brought plenty of food for us! We made ceviche, empanadas, patacones, and Tamarindo juice. It was a feast! Jorge was great at guiding us, but also allowing us to do most of it ourselves, while still keeping us on schedule. We learned a lot and have since made these dishes back home. I would highly recommend anyone book him if looking for an authentic meal and new skills.

An authentic Costa Rican experience - Jorge's class was a truly authentic experience from beginning to end, and the final result was delicious! I went to his class by myself while staying in Samara for a few days. Jorge invited me into his home which is just outside of the main part of town and we made ceviche with platacones, frijoles molidos, and arroz con pollo completely from scratch. He also introduced me to tamarindo tea which was very refreshing.
Jorge shows you how to make the dish every step of the way while providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. This felt like one of the most authentic experiences I had on my trip to costa rica. While many other experiences can feel routine and touristy, this class allowed me to meet and get to know a local while making delicious food. I would highly recommend!!

Amazing local experience - It was the local experience we were hoping for. We went to Jorge’s where we made empanadas, fried plantain and fish ceviche. It was amazing! My husband does not eat fish and loved the ceviche. Jorge was a great host and very informative. This is a LOCAL experience so don’t expect bells and whistles. We would highly recommend it if you want to learn/experience their culture.
