3 hours well spent! - A great way to spend 3 hours. Have been to Niagara countless times never been up there skylon tower, no reason and what a great new experience to see the old tunnel and to view the falls from the base. Great to see Niagara preserving this historical and very important site that is part of such an important evolution of power! Worth the money, visit and time.

Sites Unseen - We went to experience the tunnel, but got so much more. The water power station is so informative. I greatly enjoyed the displays and interactive experiences available throughout the power station. The elevator ride can be claustrophobic for some, be prepared, it's worth it! There are informational boards every few hundred feet. The walk through the tunnel very cool, it feels like being in the sewers without the smell. The tunnel is slightly under a mile one way. Wear good shoes for the walk and the conditions (wet and slippery).

Falls tunnel walking tour - We really enjoyed the walking tour with Deanna. We started with the skyline tower where she gave overview of information related to the falls and the history of hydroelectric power. Deanna is a retired civil engineer and very knowledgeable. The walk to the power building was pleasant with more stops along the way, history of the falls, then grand finale at the newly opened tunnel. The view of the falls at the end was spectacular. Deanna was an excellent guide and we highly recommend.

Power Station Vibe Tour - If you like taking a tour through historic infrastructure facilities and learning how the early stages of electrical generation was designed, this is for you. You also get a LOT of steps in with "The Tunnel" tour, which is from the generating station shaft base level out to the Niagara River outlet. The scale of the undertaking to build such an underground structure is impressive!

Interesting, but expensive. - The tunnel was built 1901 to discharge the water from the power plant back into the Niagara River. The tunnel was excavated with only lanterns, rudimentary dynamite, pickaxes and shovels, but now has a smooth concrete floor added so that you may walk the 2,200 feet to the newly constucted viewing platform at the base of the falls. The view gives you a new perspective for viewing the Horseshoe and American Falls, including close-up views of the Maid of the Mist and other tour ships. The tour also includes access the restored Niagara Parks Power Station, Canada's first major power plant on that side of the Niagara River. Admission is $28 Canadian and parking is $35 Canadian, so prepare yourself for the sticker shock. It's a pricey package if the Tunnel is your only destination, but that 35 dollar parking fee is for all day, so if you park clear down at the end, you can also use it as your arrival spot for seeing the rest of the Niagara sites.

Great views!! - The view from the tunnel was just amazing. And the mechanical equipment and informative posts upstairs were quite interesting. It's just amazing how this system was built and worked.
