Highlights
  • Nha Trang Beach - Chef Dat and his team of apprentice drivers will retrieve you from your accommodation via motorbike scooter.\n\nClutching onto them, you’ll navigate the bustling throngs of motorcyclists. In Vietnam, scooters are the quintessential mode of transport, particularly our model, which gained fame through Audrey Hepburn’s portrayal in the 1953 classic, Roman Holiday.\n\nVenturing from the hectic main roads, we’ll explore serene local districts, far from the usual tourist paths, where you’ll find a humble street-side table beneath a canopy, attended by welcoming women. The culinary journey begins with banh can - tender, airy rice flour mini pancakes, meticulously prepared in tiny clay pots, then adorned with a quail egg or accompanied by a selection of minced pork, squid, or shrimp toppings.\n\nThe delightful little cakes are irresistibly tempting, serving as the perfect vessel for a medley of tastes and consistencies once immersed in a concoction of nuoc mam pha, a robust, aromatic fish sauce crafted from fermented anchovies, enhanced with your choice of crispy fried scallions.\n\nFollowing that is banh xeo, a crunchy, rice flour pancake tinged with turmeric, stuffed with bean sprouts, green onions, and regional squid. You envelop them in your preferred leafy greens and submerge them in the previously prepared sauce.\n\nProceeding, we have Fresh rice paper rolls, where you gather various herbs and pickled vegetables like carrot and daikon, along with barbecued minced pork on a bamboo skewer.\n\nPlace it all atop a delicate rice paper, roll it up, dip it into an exclusive sauce concocted from glutinous rice, minced pork, fish sauce…and savor the experience.\n\nAnother local specialty to sample is Bun Ca (tuna noodle soup), a harmonious blend of onions, tomatoes, and tuna creating a savory broth, complemented with an assortment of freshly sliced herbs, seasoned to achieve a quartet of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors.\n\nThe pinnacle of this gastronomic excursion is the dessert Che Chuoi Nuong, featuring bananas encased in sticky rice and banana leaves, then slowly grilled over charcoal until they reach a delightful crispness. It’s presented on a dish, crowned with luscious coconut milk and a dusting of crushed peanuts.\n\nIt’s incredibly delicious! You must give it a try!

An excellent way to experience Nha Trang's local food and culture! - Chef Dat's tour combined a selection of Nha Trang's best local food with interesting stories of the town's history and culture! We went to several locations that we never would have found on our own, and we really felt like we were able to sample the real local culture in a manageable amount of time. Chef Dat is very knowledgeable about the food and the local people, and he's a skilled driver of the motorbike that gets you from place to place throughout the tour. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to find the best local food in Nha Trang and get away from the crowded tourist areas!

Best Tour EVER - Dat and team showed up early, we really appreciated that. The tour is done on scooters, which adds to the whole experience of being in Vietnam. The tour was and is street food, but Dat gave us so much more. He shared the history of Nha Trang with us. When you visit the city this a must-do experience.
