Additional Information

The idea of touring the Kibera slums may initially seem daunting, but immersing oneself in this dynamic, complex community for even just a short while is an enlightening and insightful experience. Wandering through Kibera’s labyrinthine tangle of unnamed roads and tight passageways is best done early in the morning or mid-morning, under the guidance of Lucas. His keen understanding of the inspiring resourcefulness, tenacity, and inventiveness employed by Kibera’s residents to persevere under the austere conditions of the so-called ‘city of hope’ is invaluable.

An experience you can only experience in Nairobi - This is a completely different experience from ordinary tourist destinations, so I would recommend that everyone go. I felt safe because I was with a guide, and I didn't feel unsafe around the city. Kibera slum is actively tackling the waste problem, processing trash into accessories, and focusing on school education, so I felt it was a very positive and energetic slum.

Awesome experience - 🇯🇵To all Japanese people🇯🇵 I highly recommend this tour. The guides are extremely kind. In particular, the visit to the slum children's school is sure to be a lifelong memory. I've been to many slums, but I've never had a guide who was so kind and attentive. I won't go into the details of the tour, but please go and see for yourself how wonderful it is🙏 Of course, there was no rip-off or danger👍

Except safari, this is an amazing tour you must do in Kenya! Highly recommended - We met Lucas’s colleague, two young guys showed us many places like Toi market in Adams area. We went to Victorious Craft factory and saw how do the kenyan people produce products from cow bones and locks etc. We also have visited Karibuni power women group which consists 15 HIV positive women who came together to reduce the stigma surrounding HIV and create lives free of dependency. They showed us how do they produce wonderful jewelry by magazine paper. And then we visited a Kibera slum family and a local school. We brought a bag of lollipop and the kibera kids love it. We played with them in a tiny little classroom. We indeed enjoyed the 2-3 hours of seeing what Lucas’s team has shown us.

Great tour and fully recommended - Unique opportunity to learn about the lives of many that are overlooked by the average tourist. Rather than being vouyeristic, this tour exposed the ingenuity and perseverance of the slums residents with proceeds directly supporting a school visited within Kibera. Not to mention that these kids are absolutely adorable. Beyond the slums, the tour also visits the second-hand and food markets nearby which is interesting in of itself.

Good experience for me - Actually I didn’t know about slam at all before I came there. I think we should know about that. The tour guide took me to the school in slam. The tour guide was so good person and he explained to me very well. So I could know a lot of things about Kibera. It was valuable experience for me. I recommend to join this tour when you come to Kenya.

A morning in a very special place | Walking through Kibera - During a three-hour walk through Kibera, Elijah showed us many different places and introduced us to people who really impressed us. We spoke to men who make jewelry from scrap metal. We met strong women who, despite their illness, practice handicrafts to feed their children. The visit to a preschool and elementary school for children between 2 and 10, which was founded just a few years ago using their own resources, was particularly impressive. The two teachers and the cook talked about everyday school life in the middle of the bustling and very cramped neighborhood. We got to know other places, and Elijah answered all our questions very openly and patiently. Finally, we were able to get to know his home and, above all, his warm-hearted mother. An emotional, touching, happy, thought-provoking morning. Thank you, Elijah and all the people we met in Kibera.
