Wolong Giant Panda Nature Reserve - Wolong Hetaoping Panda Base, as a part of the Wolong Giant Panda Nature Reserve, located at the southwest of Wenchuan County. It is the earliest base for giant panda breeding, which first constructed in 1980s.

Discover the unseen aspects of the Hetaoping Wolong Panda Base. Here are a few key points:
a. Red Panda Volunteer Program: This program enables volunteers to clean and make food for the red pandas which mainly includes bamboo, apples and panda cakes.
b. Understand the Wilderness Survival Training Program for captive bred pandas: In Hetaoping, panda cubs are prepared for release with minimal human interaction. These cubs are raised by their mothers in large, lush enclosures until they become independent, afterwards they are moved to larger isolated areas. The only human contact is with the caretakers who deliver bamboo daily while clothed in panda suits heavily doused with panda urine to mask their human scent. All visitors to the center must wear these urine-drenched suits. The mothers handle the survival training for their cubs.
